1. I wish I could work out what one would fit my S1 swtiching P Bass, I've tried a few times and short of calling them up I've drawn a blank.
2. I'm on my last month of Spotify premium. I'm going to start using Bandcamp and spending the £10 a month on there instead.
3.
Keep it simple. In every respect.
That goes for every aspect of life but gigging in particular.
4. doesn't look like Sunset orange to me. Sunset is translucent.
5. I'd swap if I was allowed. there is a song that feels much easier on my modern p with rounds compared to the old clunker and I feel the bouncy pop/80s ness of it suits that guitar. Then we do a Motown thing that I love playing with a foam mute. There is a couple of more aggressive numbers that I like a pick with rounds. Ultimately though I'm told to use the old P bass, the tone is preferred by all for all songs.
6. I love mine and would only change for a HD350
7. I'd love to get one, my Reidmar is wonderful though, and small.
8. until last night. I was in the house band at a jam night, which had FOH and so I just set my amp very middy so we could hear at the front. When I came off and the next guy took over the sound man started turning him down very quickly and after abour 5 seconds his channel was off completely. Then the sound man was on the stage turning the amp down, twice, then sent me up to sort it out. I basically set the amp back to flat and halved the gain while turning teh compressor up to 3/4. That tamed him but blimey the difference between us was vast. He has a lovely Fender badged Japanese Squier from 1981.
9. The knob placement on the matching headstock one is much better visually for me.
10.
far more than their aesthetic design skills. It's kind of like Japanese cars, they're superb, beautifully made, but miss the target visually - there was a feature a while ago that said European and American cars used compound radius curves and Japanese contestant radius ones to explain one of the differences in fundamental design outlook.
But is that a Western outlook though? I see Japanese design in a different light, and it appeals to me greatly on a lot of levels.
11. Wont be same day though. I had a bass done by him it was pretty good and he's a nice chap. My friend Atheesan also does sterling work but again he's mega busy and I doubt same day would be possible.
12. Considering I'm just learning this stuff again (I stopped in the 80s) I'm happy with my 10 out of 15. I knew the alto clef but not where the notes were.
13.
Yeah it's a cracking song but the drums really date it!
Indeed, I'm looking forward to seeing what our drummer does. He's not been told we are doing the song and I doubt he's ever heard it.
14.
This actually reminds me I had a similar request quite a few years ago for a Wedding Booking in the States for my Band. I guess it was the same type of scam where they wanted my login/bank details. I seem to recall they were offering flights out there and $500. I asked them why they did not go for a more local Band but heard nothing back...
I read some stuff about photographers getting these overseas assignments and bad stuff happening to them. Can't remember all the details but it was not good.
15. Band leader texted me the other day and said to learn Pretending by Eric Clapton. I'd never listened to it before and gave it a quick once over and filed it in the must do another time folder. Then I get another text saying we have a rehearsal (first one this year) so I thought I better get on with learning the song. I cannot stop playing it. For some reason once I really listened and started playing it I love it. It has some weird parts in it (the A, E, D chorus is a bit cheesy) and there isn't room to stretch out at all but there is just something about it. 16.
Flats sound cack when you're plunking away on your own.
the Ti flats on my P bass sound f***ing awesome,
17. Seen this? http://www.ernieball.com/flatwound
18. The intention was never to learn anything in isolation. The idea that anything we learn is useful on its own is questionable. I can play 2 octave major scales in all 12 keys. It really lets me do nothing other than play the scales.
19. Anthony says if you know them by knowing where they are in relation to something else all you are doing is working out where they are really fast rather than actually knowing. The difference between knowing your times tables or being able to do multiplication quickly.
20. For me knowing the tetra chords and where the root is all over the neck opened things up massively.
21. Looks and sounds great. Will try some Ernie Balls myself I think.
22.
Lakland 55-01?
Is got dots.
23. I could live with dots. The only thing I can find that fits the bill is an MTD.
