1. I'm not a fan of relicing. My 62 P is in pretty good condition for its age, certainly not one of those rat look basses. If a company can make it feel played in and old without all the chipped off paint etc. I'd be interested. I'd also be interested if they put their own name on the headstock rather than Fender's.
2. I wonder how long Jack took to set this kit up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yesuSizNW-8
3. Tuning drums at gigs sounds like a load of nonsense to me. Regardless there really is no need to hit a drum loudly to tune it just tapping round the edge will do.
4.
What are these?! I would love to have my kit set up exactly the same every time! 5. Memory locks on my stands mean I can be done in 10 minutes. It always shocks me how slow people are in most situations. I have my bass stuff setup in about 2 minutes.
6. Should I sell my unused stuff to buy more new stuff that will probably sit there unused too?
7.
We can probably infer the situation from that list! But surely you can tell us which amp head you want to buy?
Edited the original - Aguilar http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_amplifiers_TH500.htm
8. that would end up too much like a for sale ad and I'm not going down that route the stuff in red is hardly used, the rest is used daily, I'd really like a Aguilar TH500 Basses I own 1962 Precision 2008 precision CV Jazz 1980 Aria SB1000 Amp stuff I own Harley Benton 500 watt head Genz Benz 212 Neo cab TC BG250 combo Pedals Demeter Compulator MXR Filter Tech21 Bass DI Vox Phaser Big Muff Pearl OD-05
9. Ooh I like the idea of selling all the unused kit and consolidating. The really perverse part of all of this is the head I want I've never actually heard! Consumerism at its very worst.
10. I'm thinking of selling a bass that I very very rarely use (but love) so I can buy an amp head. Now this on the face of it seems quite sensible. That's until you realise I already have an amp head and it has had less use than said bass as most of the time I just take my combo out with me. Having just turned down a very regular gig where the new head would have been perfect also feeds into the madness.
11.
Hmmm, what about Sonic blue & tort???...i kinda like the vibe of the this original 63P and Marks (Classic & Cool Guitars) is just up the road from me (hides wallet and view of PC from wifey ). I have already traded with him in the past and its true he's a great chap indeed. If anyone wants me to 3 month road test their new incoming Limelights before they receive then of course I'm always game
What is going on with that bridge?
12. The cathedral demo showed the limitation with a big strummed chord. I have to say though I'm sold and want one
13. That is amazing that someone would do that, certainly a good find and perfect for a resto.
14. Restos fascinate me, got any before pics of the 62? Both guitars sound great. The re-issue reminds me of my late model P. I've also got a thin board 62.
15. but, having just done a full setup, the difference is nowhere near as marked as I thought it was. Especially when most of the loose string clank you can hear acoustically just doesn't translate through an amp and when you are playing it loud enough you can't hear the strings anyway I got my 5 year old daughter to play for a bit, she's always got greasy hands.
16. I should say I find them much harder to play well, less forgiving of sloppiness but the lack of tension does help the bulging forearm issue I get after a couple of frantic songs with the DTFs
17. Thought I'd spend some wages from my last gig on some TI flats. I replaced the old (12 years apparently) Fender (maybe) flats. I was keen to try the TI because I have Labella DTF on my other P. I must say I was massively shocked with these strings. They sound like High Beams, bright, not very smooth under the fingers (although much smoother than rounds) and just a bit clanky (45-100). Played for a couple of hours and still was unsure. Until I cranked up and played along with a recording at sensible levels. Then they made a lot of sense. Seem like a massive output, growly as anything and with the tone rolled off massive fatness but not a lot of thud. My intention was to restring my other p with rounds at some point but I think now the 62 sounds great with these and gives me all the tonal options I need.
18. I'd like a Schecter. Always fancied a 7 string guitar from them.
19. I must admit being told that we were adding a rhythm guitar for a festival we are doing made me sad.
20. Thanks, I am a very lucky boy. This is a good representation of the colour.
21. Thanks, it was a gift form my mum and dad (for my 40th birthday).
22. Finally Dave and I managed to meet up and do a deal. Picked it up yesterday. My Mrs said "Did you know about the dinged up bits?".
