1. Now I've worked out how to do videos I'm getting into it. Find it more stressful than playing live though http://youtu.be/6WWcy3s7NVA
2.
Dangerous song to choose! Such a great groove to it, easy to ruin. You have done a good job here to keep the right feel, well done. I would imagine Duck Dunn wasn't quite so strict with his fingering as you - I'm certainly way more lazy, but your way is better!
Thanks, my guitarist friend chose it he's asked me to learn a few songs for him and that one was the most fun
3. But.... the 60th Anniversary ones were available from Mexico too.
4. First attempt at a video, should have chosen something I didn't just start learning http://youtu.be/tBDR9G91I_E
5. Ah so I was wrong about the hole, sorry about that. Lowender the active doesn't have the control plate http://www.fender.com/en-GB/squier/basses/jazz-bass/deluxe-jazz-bass-iv-active-4-string-ebonol-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst/
6. What are you after a review of? Someone here probably has one.

8.
eh? the neck routing on the one I used to have was an oversized rectangle, not following the contour of the pickup! (the fretless sold without a pickguard so it's different) By contrast, my '94 Squier Jazz has neat pickup routs and I used to play it without a pickguard, and so does the Squier MIke Dirnt P-bass.
VM Jazz. The fretless model comes without a pickguard.
9. Stalled a little while I was saving for nitro and building up to stripping the poly off. Well I changed my mind on both. I've gone for acrylic now. Have sealed and sanded the neck, I think I'll seal again for luck then mask the headstock off. Primed the body today and it will need a little bit of rework on the back of the upper cutaway and the gut cutout. Nothing major and can all be done within the thickness of primer.
10. So is the 1024 not as good as the older BBs then?
11.
That's a MIM mate. The Americans don't have the open cavity. The Mexi's in general are a low end instrument IMO. The Squier CV's are superior.
Sorry but you are incorrect. http://www.fender.com/necks-bodies/jazz-bass-bodies/usa-jazz-bass-alder-body-modern-bridge-mount-3-color-sunburst/
12. Was messing about this morning and wanted to have a go at getting something recorded ad youtubed. The footage is form an Autorikshaw ride in the Mumbai district of Powai. The music is a midi loop for drums and a single take of bass and guitar using presets in Garageband. The whole workflow is so stripped down compared to what I used to have and I'm encouraged to keep it mega simple and see what I can come up with. I'm pleased with this for 10 minutes work. http://youtu.be/8Vwa-jpMvF0
13. First couple of listens I wasn't impressed. I've been eagerly waiting for this so maybe that is no surprise. Their formula of taking popular throwaway songs and doing their thing to them has obviously resulted in them writing a throwaway pop song and doing their thing to it. The trouble is their throwaway song is poor. the lyrics are sh*t, and it speaks to a narrow audience IMHO. I think they'll do well in Asia, I think they have a chance of capturing the minds of youth that might otherwise be drawn into other forms of music, but I have a feeling their song writing just wont be good enough to get big airplay. Still enjoy listening though and after 20 listens it is quite catching
14. Agree with all that, just a "Thanks for letting me know, wish you all the best". I'd love to be fishing the Thames, I fished Eynsham a couple of years back, loved it.
15. When I wanted to buy myself a Fender bass which was a fair amount of money for me to be spending I wanted to make sure I was getting the right one. I played lots and lots in every shop I went to all over the world. The differences between them were quite marked and I do find that a lot of objects have a certain something that a supposedly identical wont. Additionally I think that the ownership can be enhanced by memories of purchase etc. So for me buying my bass from World Music in Nashville was absolutely better than buying an similar model online.
16. Just got to hear it today. Really enjoyable. Good work. I'm thinking about making the trip to Dalston, but I really dislike trying to get home from there on a Tuesday night
17. This is why I bought a VM Squier because it doesn't have the ugly hogged out body.
18.
Reply to it, thanking them for being so up front, wish them well and go fishin'. Life's too short - go get another band with good people and have some fun. Best of luck......
This. What sort of fishing are you doing?
19.
Nothing worse than a saggy draggy feel
Dragging blues is where its at.
20.
The best musicians are of course the rare ones that are just as happy reading as they are using their ears (clever bastards!).
The ones that have spent equal time practicing both reading, ear training and all the technical aspects you mean? I've really been thinking about that a lot and I'm working on every single part playing the instrument. Just a shame I wasted 35 years by not paying attention in school more
