1. Cool, mystery solved. Thanks!
2.
http://basschat.co.u...soul-cool-bass/
I even posted in that thread
3. Hmmm maybe, but I don't see a 5 string Jazz on their site.
4. Any idea? http://www.flickr.com/photos/beboh/6543100605/lightbox/
5. Apologies if this has been done before. Very rarely do I listen to a recording and think "I want to sound like that" from a tone/playing perspective. However when I do it's usually very compelling and I can't stop thinking about it. I heard this last year and play it every couple of days dreaming of having the chops and rig to recreate it (not just learn to play it like this, having the skill to do it naturally). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boXcU9o0v3g Have you got something you aspire too/dream off?
6. Worked from home which means I got at least two hours of practice in over the day. Then had a lesson tonight and have come home and worked on my home work. If only I could devote that amount of time each day.
7. I was torn between two but made my choice. Very interesting to lsiten to them all though. Might try my hand at a future comp.
8.
I liked the demonstration where they counted 1 and 3 only instead of 1,2,3,4
That's why Jazz swings, the 2 and 4 pulse.
9. Just bought the kindle version too (because you made it easy for me).
10.
Cheers guys, i will be playing sitting down, and will play as long as i can, better than not playing at all, and the rickenbacker is a beauty, i feel normal again lol, i tried using a cheap bass, just was not the same.
FWIW When I saw Jack Bruce he sat down for a fair amount of the gig. Didn't detract at all.
11. I've got Labella flats on my P bass and it sounds ridiculous. I've been playing my Aria recently and have only had the Fender unplugged for brief moment. Plugged it in tonight and thump thump thump swing
12. I really like the way she shakes her hips in that breakdown near the end
13. Could quite easily have been an extra track from the Night fly.
14.
I know mate
sorry was being a bit of a grump
15.
I met Dave last year, he was in a band on the same bill as us. He's a very nice guy actually
It was supposed to be a light hearted "don't take yourself too seriously" jibe. Certainly no offence meant and nice people are quite often miserable or grumpy :-D
16.
Some people have an appreciation for the items on sale but there is no need to write things like "love this bass but totally out of funds right now." I see these posts every day and they are just pointless.
What a misery guts you are
17.
Rick Danko
I love The Band.
18.
The trouble i got with my drummer is he's my brother and i can't kick him out. He has trouble keeping time, And it throws everyone out, and to top it off he has a massive ego and will argue with any help or constructive critism! He just plays the same roles out of time! we're only a covers band, but i spend hours practicing and trying to get things perfect, and feel quite deflated when i play with him. Any suggestions?? I'd love to play with a brilliant drummer!!
Buy him this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Big-Time-Region-Import-NTSC/dp/B0002IQM84 it's an awesome DVD he'll learn loads.
19. everything I read about Fodera makes me want to buy their product. They don't make product for me though, and that might be some of the point. It's aspirational stuff (for me lottery win stuff I guess).
