1. Some cool bass sounds there. I think sub 3 minutes is short for a song especially one that has so much commercial potential. I like the vocal melody, some interesting choices. Some of the lyrics I might have heard elsewhere recently though, the bit about the dress on the floor. The second song is probably less interesting but with wider appeal perhaps. I think the disco style drums makes it sound very familiar and you'll get a bunch of listeners. Good luck.
2.
Just wondering whether those that only capture 'aimless noodling' or 'parpy fretless sliding about' think of stuff like this ..?
While I can hear a lot of merit in Jaco's work a lot of it is a bit far out there and does appear to be aimless noodling. That Schubert piece is exceptionally well structured and more importantly accessible to most people without having to be in possession of whatever it is people need to be able to decipher Jaco.
3. Might have to play about with the chorus on my amp simulator. My only experience with chorus was buying a new microphone from ADK in Nashville. I went straight to my friends studio to show off my toy, we plugged it into his desk, and he played acoustic guitar through it. it was the most glorious sounding acoustic guitar recording I'd ever heard, I couldn't believe what the mic had pulled out of the guitar. Then I noticed the send pot up, "what's on send one?" yup it had a touch of chorus on it and it made a massive difference. If I ever have to record acoustic guitar it will have a smidge of chorus that's for sure.
4. Mine was up for sale for absolutely ages at £675. The market was slow and I'm glad I didn't let it go for that money.
5. Can I ask what sort of music (other than GnR tributes) you guys are using Chorus on? Any examples?
6. Just to be clear, if I was buing a 70s one I'd be looking for a heavy weight (and a maple fret board).
7. I feel over twice as smug owning an early 60s one than an early 70s one As above though a good pre CBS guitar is astonishing and more of them are good. A good 70s one can be a thing to behold too but for me in a totally different way. One of those really heavy growling bastards would be a great addition to my fleet.
8. OK better explanation. Quite often when I read Blue's experiences it makes me realise just how lucky I am to be here and makes me grateful for the small but very friendly music scene we have in these parts. It seems that gigs are easy to find, turning down a gig doesn't mean I never get asked again, we get paid well enough for only short amounts of playing time (one thread about how long people had to play for was very eye opening to me), the jam scene is friendly, everyone gets to play, there are some genuinely talented people that attend, etc.etc.
9.
I get to play bass at 100% of the Jam nights I go to, I sometimes play more than the house band guy, when I've been the house band I've let others sit in and use my bass. Sometimes Blue I read things about where you live and parts of it really suck.
I absolutely meant no disrespect with this post. Very hard to convey what I meant without sounding like an asshole so I just went with it.

11. I've never been to an open mic but go to Blues Jams and have a whale of a time. When we move to the coast if there is not a good one to attend I'll start my own.
12. Half way though our set today at an outdoor festival sound guy comes on stage and starts fiddling with my amp. He said bass is too loud (I was on about 2.5) I turned down the volume and he continued messing about, looking on the back of the Cab (nothing there other than the tweater level). He runs off and his boss comes over, looking at the amp. At this point I can barely keep playing with them half talking to me so just get on with it. After the song I say to chief sound man his mate told me too much bass, he said I was clipping the desk and once matey started messing about we lost me altogether. I turned the gain down, they put a new lead in and all seemed right again. That however was tough to recover from and it took me a couple of songs to really get back into it. Came off disappointed which is unusual.
13. Sort of gassing for some custom mold ear plugs. If we make any money with this new band I'll get some. Weirdly just 5 minutes ago I started thinking how nice an ampeg 8x10 would be.
14. Point to the amp and make the cutting throat signal?
15. Just got the song list for my new band. A lot I'd not heard of even though I listen to those bands (Cream, Early Fleetwood Mac, Hendrix etc.) not much from after 1969 and all of them really really great songs to play. It remains to be seen if we make any money but it's going to be fun
