1.
I've been playing bass for two years now, and although I'm no Stanley Clarke, I wouldn't be fazed if anyone here turned up at one of our gigs. I'm taking lessons and practice for about an hour every day and I think I've got to a reasonable standard but then I see this (posted elsewhere on here by a fellow BCer) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6wG71TR2_0 ...and I am genuinely astounded by the dexterity and musicianship. Then I think to myself..'if I keep the lessons up and practice hard, maybe one day...'. But then reality sets in - I'll never be that good on bass, cos if I'm honest with myself, I don't really aspire to it. I'm happy just fumbling away on a Saturday night and going home with £60 in my back pocket stinking of smoke. How good do you want to be?
I agree niceguyhomer, thats top class playing,i started playing in the seventies but stopped for a long time, if i had carried on i know i would be lot better than i am now, but i'm happy to just plonk along in a covers band, i'm enjoying it and thats whats important to me.
2. I don't know a thing about Warwicks so it looks just like any other to me, what is it that makes you doubt it. warwickhunt?
3. Nice video by Ken Smith. he takes you on a tour of his factory and show how is bass's are made. http://www.webcastgroup.com/client/start.a...d=0670213073149
4. I came across an article in a bass blog. its a Shaftesbury based on rick 330 guitar. the rick police had ebay pull it even though rickenbacker never made a bass version, go figure. http://www.hollowbodybass.com/bass-sightin...backer-copy.htm
5. I like the look of the pickguard on this strat, i think it makes a nice combination with the body. would'nt mind putting one on a jazz. has anyone seen one anywhere?, i emailed the guy but no answer. don't even know what you would call it. 6. After a few emails asking about shipping prices i gave up when they did'nt reply. so any info would be appreciated.
7.
I recently realised I knew nothing about my bass, so I thought I would do some research. I think my bass would be a contender if anyone knew they existed. --- It's a 1997 Californian Series Precision special. The model was only made for two years between 1996 and 1998 and features passive vintage p/j pickups. And it receives healthy reviews on harmony-central http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...ss+Special/10/1 This one isn't mine, but I hope to spray it this colour or dark brown. blimey, you learn something every day,i did'nt realise you could get plugs like that for a bass. Would putting covers on detract from its value? Does anyone know where you can get those spots/inserts shown on the first picture to cover the drill holes for the bridge cover? Cheers, Paul.
blimey, you learn something every day,i did'nt realise you could get plugs like that for a bass.
8. Well mine just drinks beer and turns the telly over
9. Ok, thanks.
10. I noticed ped has a animated avatar, I think mine was untill i stuck it on the forum, is there anything you have to do?
11. I always liked the sound Greg lake had, (ELP. King crimson etc.) no mean player either.
12. I think i could make this if thats ok. i suppose time and confirmation a bit nearer the date?
13. I bought a cheaper version of this. no compartments. its ok for leads. but i had a couple of pedals floating around in there and when i came to use them i found they did'nt work, lesson learnt. i use that one for leads and something dedicated for pedals.
14.
Try these... http://www.wegenpicks.com/ They're expensive, but worth every penny. And at £8 a shot, you don't lose them.
Thanks, i'll have a look at those.
15.
would be interested to see how these work and if they would make a difference potentially, you could spread the pressure of your grip through your hand to minimise the strain in the one area where you grip a pick http://www.groovetubes.com/product.cfm?Product_ID=2095
I would like some opinions on these also, its the first time i have seen them. anyone used them? my problem is the opposite. i don't hold the pick firmly enough and it tends to float around my fingers a bit.
16.
I much prefer pubs now, the feeling of coming home not smelling of smoke is great and you can breathe a lot easier. You could wear the same clothes the next day no problem without getting sick of the smell of smoke!
Agree about that, althought there seems to a lot more flies about, don't know if the smoke was keeping them away, unless its the type of pub i frequent.
"Begining" should have a double N in the middle- beginning.
All the Bacchus bass's are spelt like that. must be a Japanese thing. I've no excuse though, i'm a printer and i do a bit of proof reading.
