after talking to Lee the way to use it is to get the sound you like with it & adjust the volume accordingly & leave it on , at gigging level I found at the 1 o'clock position really tightened up the bottom end & added a very pleasing punch along with the bass drum .

after talking to Lee at Ashdown it looks like I'm completely wrong & it's my misunderstanding of how it worked , I was going by a youtube review of BTA400 .

It's been perfectly fine with Rotosound , Elixir , Newtone , Ashdown & warwick & legacy . But I can understand that . I've worked out that the Newtone have done about 50 hours of playing including gigs & still sound brighter & the output is considerably higher .

I tried swapping back the E string to a Newtone & this had worn off against the fret after about 4 hours playing & I'm getting fret buzz compared to the Newtone & Roto Sound of the same guage ,I will measure to see if they are the same guage as on the packet .

I wonder if it's because when they went to Italy their back line never turned up & they had to borrow stuff & it put Mark on to normal gauge strings & the T bass being a longer neck holds the tension better ? Plus it's a great bass I wish I hadn't sold mine .

Jon Shuker will ask you what weight you want & then give you selection of woods to choose from & build exactly what you want .

I have a dehumidifier I've had the most expensive one on the market but I know have one from screw fix cost £99 3 years ago ,cuts down on heating costs as well as it easier to heat dry air .

I've seen a few clips of some chap playing a bass I think His name is Scott ? & He's always wearing a glove . Does anyone know why ?

my drummer leaves his Kit at the back of my Shop , you can have that for £5

We use to use a electric Kit & the drummer was also the Singer , 1 x12" Alto monitor worked fine for His vocal & drums .

done that years ago & punters put theirs drinks on the sign first .

The look doesn't offend my eye they just seem a bit costly .

Anyone use them to stop punters putting drinks on PA subs ? I worry about my EV powered subs , only take one pint to go over .

I've done a gig in a pub where the landlord made it clear that they didn't want a loud band , So I put one 12" behind us for monitoring & it worked really well & save setting up monitors .

I use a Peavey 2 x 600w PA one internal amp powers two 12" EV tops for out front & the other powers 2 x 8" EVs for monitors , For larger venues I have 2 x EV powered subs & use the EV 8" as tops & the 12" for monitors .quite a light & flexible system . I can't see the point in subs in a small pub .

No that was USA ..Can't they register it as a gift ?

I think the neon are a different coating .

I've seen them from £28 including delivery etc but it depends on what colour you go for .

As these are supposed to last longer due to the coating & I can get them a lot cheaper than Elixir ,Has anyone got any long term views on them ?

A band I was in was doing a wedding reception gig & all the parents were at the bar while 4 -10 tear olds just ran around our equipment, I had to stop to catch a child pulling a PA top over , Kids were also chasing some of the laser light patterns on the dance floor & some 7 year old ran head first into the wall knocking himself out . In the early 80s I went to an outside biker rally & they took a dislike to the band so they threw all their gear into a lake :(.

I started getting a different sound per song & I found that the sounds individually were OK a lot of sound would sound weak in a live situation & if I started pratting around with level settings at a full rehearsal I thing I would have been thrown out lol . Anyway it wasn't my cup of tea I'm much happier with what I have .

I'm never buying anything on April 1st ever again .
