  1. I use a Roland GR55 & I wished I hadn't come across its EQ section .
  2. Has anyone one else spent hours on playing with their EQ & then gone back to their origanal setting & thought they'd spent hours making a crap sound instead of rehearsing a set ?
  3. Is there a huge difference in sound ? I'm looking at the Newtone range .
  4. Sorry I've been using a GR55 for a few years now & I just can't remember .
  5. The warwick don't give a scale length , I've tried Elixir , & Roto Sound , The others I've had to cut the silk winding back because it went over the nut .
  6. The only trouble I have is that My Shuker is 36" scale
  7. Will these last longer than Rotosound swing bass strings & be more cosistant ?
  8. Alto but going over to EV zx1 s for vocal only .
  9. volume wise I try to be at the same volume of the acoustic bass drum & that's it ...It's the punch , amount of depth & feeling the low end I like plus I like looking at a rig , also Some of these monitors for large PAs weigh more than my cabs ....quite a lot of experienced named bands will use , in ear , monitor & back line ..but they have road crew .
  10. if they are the same speakers as I had in my super compacts I can 't see it , maybe an OK but not give that chest pounding bass & drums & vocal ...I'd love to be corrected though .
  11. What I really like about my rig is that I can If needed mic everything up & get that stadium sound with thumping bass drum etc but on a club level ...Do you think these 1 x15" barefaced could really do all that ?
  12. The heaviest bass cab I have is 37lbs , I just can't get the sound I like just going DI into my 2.6k pa , without my cabs behind me ..I have done with much bigger PAs & much bigger monitors .
  13. I've put Roto sound on at the moment but I think I will give Newtone strings a go .
  14. Thanks for the suggestion ..but my current tops only weigh 20lbs The RCFs are over 45 lbs & not so easy to get on stands on my own with my back .
  15. It's the weight of the individual Items , I don't want to be putting powered speakers up on stands on my own , My current rig is 1200 watts for tops max & 1400watts for the subs .& a max of 10 inputs only used on large gigs .
  16. Regardless of budget I'm trying to see if I can better the rig I have for pub/ club gigs weight is the most important bit .I currently use a Peavey XR1212 powered mixer , (18lbs) , EV powered 12"subs (45lbs)each & EV ZX1 tops (20lbs)each ..I'm just wondering if this can be bettered ?
  17. Now my Ashdown supply of 45 -105 strings has gone , I'm wondering what's out there suitablr for my 36" scale Shuker ..apart from Rotosound swing bass that I use to get .
  18. WHAT DOES frfr STAND FOR ?
  19. Another 3 years on & I still really like this amp ..regarding the thump when turning off I've been told that this is nothing to worry about , you can always unplug the speaker before turning off . I like the fan it's like turning on a 747 except there's more power ;).
  20. I've been using a Ashdown ABM 1 x 15 neo with a 1 x12"rm with Sica neo upgrade , set up with My ABM 1000 & I have to say for me it's the best sound I've ever had , I haven't used a 1 x15 since the early 80s & never this combination.
  21. I had to ask Him to turn down on a PA sound check once ..His responce " I can't possibly , I'm in competition with Lemmy "
  22. I'm wondering if the ABM600 now covers these tones or they have a new model for Him ?
  23. Vertical , I found horizontal I'm not hearing the high frequencies very well.
  24. You've dropped the JJ head ...I hope you realise this is against the law & does JJ know .
