I tried just DI straight into various PA systems & just using a monitor , It was Ok but I liked having the punch behind me , & for most gigs I was carrying in PA subs that I didn't really need if I used my rig , even using it as a monitor I'm only carrying one extra speaker & getting a sound I'm a lot happier with .

I use a Shuker 36" bass fitted with a midi pick up going through a Roland GR55 , Ashdown jjb powering 2 x Ashdown 12" RM cabs loaded with Sica drivers( 30lbs per cab) . For large venues with a decent PA I DI post eq & mic .

I've tried this but I just can't seem to get the sound I like that I do with my rig behind me .

I can't see any new technology going in there & the components are tightly packed .I have a PJB breif case & it stopped working after it fell on its side .It turned out that the transfomer was too close to other components & falling on its side was enought to make it blow .

I've got a decent PA active subs cross overs etc .....but I wouldn't mind getting an easy plug in & play mixer amp for small pubs for vocals only any suggestions ? cheers .

I reckon they will have an over heating problem like the TC250 , time will tell.

Oh very well I suppose I better work it out , when I say that I will get my mates Son who works for JBL to work it out for me .

Unless it's a 5K plus PA with active cross over I wouldn't bother especially if the sound guy isn't sure .

Interesting you want more power! I've still not peaked mine yet, it's perfect for my set up thankfully. Glad they've given the EVO head two Speakon connectors, that would be the one thing I'd like on mine TBH... I have the ABM 1000 & when I took the top off to put it into a wood sleave from rack , I could see that the space was packed ,this amp will blow your face off & you just wouldn't be able to get it into the RM case .

I set up my Roland GR55 to go though my bass rig ,I mix my bass signal with the GR55 sounds so it's just one lead from the unit into my amp ,It makes setting up for live gigs a lot simpler ,I do DI from my bass head to the PA & roll off the bass a bit at the PA ...I use to have a seperating line out from the Roland but the I had to have another monitor & getting the balance right between bass & synth was a pain & was never sure what the balance was like out front , Just make sure you have a tweeter in your rig .

Trace Eliot use to do a cab the you could place inserts into circular ports to make it a sealed cab ,so how difficult can it be , regarding tuning just start with a small circular hole & increase the diameter until you get a sound you like .why bother with all the maths etc ?

I can't get on with Google via XP but Fire Fox is fine .

I went to see him doing a one man thing , may have been the Bass Centre in Whapping ?...any way He was completely out of His tree ,& just played a load of nonsense , I was a huge fan , but as they say "never meet your Heroes"

depends on the bass line , some times I alternate between the fretted & open on the same note because I like the effect .

Is that the same model as the one I got from Mr Crofts ?
