1. I know you can put a cab on a table or beer crate , but a stack just looks the part .
2. I just looked at Mr Foxtons bass Rig that I thought was large at 2x15 & a 4x10 , So I asked Mark Gooday from Ashdown what was the largest rig that He had supplied ? It was for Greg Lake 20 plus cabs including 21" & Acoustic amps for the High end ....Typical pub rig then .
3. I have owned 2 barefaced super compacts & a super 12 cab , They are good cabs . I also use Ashdown heads & for me I preferred the Ashdown cabs for my rock plectrum style . I currently use 1x12" Rootmaster cabs with Sica drivers & a ABM 4x8 cab with Sica Drivers . The 1x12" are about 28lbs & the 4x8" is about 40lbs .
4.
Something like this? http://www.flightcas...&product_id=875
Excellent , I've been looking for this type of thing , thanks .
5.
If I was suffering with back issues, I'd ditch cabs completely, make sure the band had great PA and go DI and in ears.
& who's going to shift the PA ?
6.
I`m surprised you`ve not already got the RM610, Kevin. Great cabs, I had a blast through one last year at the LBGS, had a really nice sound to it, punchy and focused. Must admit, if any spare cash comes my way I might end up with one for bigger gigs.
As soon as I get my house move out of the way , I'll be looking for a old ABM 6 x10 , I prefer the bigger wheels & steel grill especially after a bit of a prang we had in the van But I will try one .
7. I had a series 6 head with the rubber type sleeve & now mainly use the JJB Ashdown head anyone would think that they're made by the same people ...Oh hold on .
8. For the same reason I'm looking into a 6 x 10" tilt back cab , as I have a van , even though the weight would be considerably more as long as the venue doesn't have stairs it should be easier to wheel about .
9. Don't get me started .
10. Please ignore the black body bass pic . I'm only letting this go as I'm moving & have never used it .
11. There not there now lol .
12. I hate it when a singer changes key , mainly because I'm usless ...Change key on "Hit Me with Your Rythm Stick" I'd rather tune up or down lol .
13. The Thomann price for the Ashdown 6 x10 seems to be £200 lower than in the UK (including delivery) ..is this actually the same cab would anyone know ?
14. Has anyone tried the 6x10"
15. Yep the last few bands I've been with could do with reading this ...A friend of mine is a sound engineer for touring bands & I was going to organise a band trip so they could hear the onstage volume of some of these touring bands ..they would have been surprised . I'm fed up with "It's got to be that volume to get the sound "
16. Thanks very much .
17. It's probably been asked but , I'm getting a video done soon with me playing along with a original . Is there a way of removing the bass from the original track or just roll the bass frequency off ..I'll be doing my own version as I'm using a Roland GR55 to emulate brass & strings at the same time ..cheers . A friend of mine that has just done a Film & sound degree has offered to do it with His gear & just wants the experience .
18. " A little Quite" I've never seen that & Ashdown in the same sentence before ...There is a ABM1000 on here for a silly price £400 .
19.
Just to add my sixpenneth ...... I bought a pair of the RM 112T EVO cabs , and an Ashdown ABM 410 Evo IV cab (as I found a new one at a very attractive price) to compare, and keep the best. The form factor and weight of the little cabs was superb, but that was all I liked about them. The larger cab blew them out of the water tone-wise (and volume too). The 112's sounded like rather nasal toys to my ears compared to the utterly full and "professional" sound of the 410 EVO IV. I use drive in varying degrees and don't like a load of mids, but certainly would not describe my sound as scooped. Its strange that Lozz you find the RM cabs sound the same as your ABM410, but I guess not all ABM 410 cabs are equal - they have changed significantly during the different EVO's. So, for me I was disappointed. I now just have to live with a 35kg cab - big old casters help a lot !
Maybe there is a difference with the Sica drivers in the 112s that I have ? I'm very happy with them . I also have a ABM mini 4x8 with Sica drivers the weight isn't too bad at 44lbs & sounds similar to using 2 x 112s But the 112s are a much easier carry .As soon as you get into 50lb territory I'd probably look at the ABM 2x10 & 1 x15" cabs . For me I think there is always going to be a slight pay off to save on weight , If I had road crew I'd probably go for a ABM 410 & 115 oh & a 8x10 next to that lol ....
20. Hi Loz ... On the Ashdown web site it states the 414 cab at 37kg where the ABM 4x10 is 33kg ...that can't be right ?
21. The JJ/Mark King Head has a bit more headroom ...not that you need it .
22. Thinking of letting this go & maybe the 5 string , To be honest I've never used them , I've just liked having them around . May be able to deliver personally if in the south . Has LEDs ..I will post better pictures if anyone is interested . No Trades Thanks
