I've owned all at the same time , Ashdown ABM 1000, 400 , Ashdown labs 600 . Markbass little rocker , Mrk 3 , Mo mark , TC , & Mesa Boogie 400+ . after A/Bing them over a few days I kept the Ashdown amps .
A big reason why I've stopped playing with local bands is because they have their on stage amps too loud & you just can't hear any quality , I always use custom made ear plugs/filters . an old girlfriend who was a E N T specialist lost 50% of her hearing at one DR Feelgood gig , she even said that she should have known better . & that was just one gig .
I can't remember the last time I just played bass & not do the PA , book gigs & transport , it's when someone said "you're a free platform for the other members egos " ..& watching them miss treat the equipment , I often wondered what if I just threw the guitarist amp around as he did when reluctantly moving a PA cab & the singer didn't even provide his own SM58 , I also considered turning up to a gig with no bass & asking the singer if he had one I could borrow .
A couple of weeks ago I did 3 gigs in a row & on the 3rd gig I thought I've had enough of this I'm 53 in the 80s I played all the cool London clubs & for the past ten years I've mostly gigged with people winging it in pubs paying less than they did in the 90's .Maybe It's because I've always been arranging everything gigs , PA transport etc ...but right now I really couldn't care less if I never gigged again . I was wondering if anyone else has gone through the same thought process ?
In the early 80s I was in a band being interviewed on the radio ...Radio presenter " Why did you call that track "127" ?" ...lead singer " well I met a white witch & she told me that 1-2 &7 added up to ten "..........Me " I could have told you that if you had asked me".....Lead singer starts fighting with me in the Radio station during interview . well I thought it was funny .
My last band I just got fed up with supplying the PA , Transport & booking Gigs , & they would show no interest in setting the PA up & breaking it down but would talk to me as though I was a stage monitor guy ... I did think about turning up to my last gig with them & ask the singer if he had a bass I could borrow as He never bothered even getting a mic ,lol .

We should all have a professional attitude. I pride myself on having a pro attitude but my band is far from what I would consider professional.

I don't care if The band is getting paid £1 , you're providing a professional service & should be treated as such , besides you never know who is watching .
I organise every thing , supply transport ,PA, book gigs & the they couldn't be bothered to work the songs out properly , The guitarist announcing "I'm not playing those guitar parts because they are too simple & boring " lol .......In fact I'm thinking about retiring from gigging all together .
For Me the band have to know the structure of the song , we did a run of 3 gigs the first drummer was a dep but had obviously listened to the songs & baught notes & did a very good job getting us through the gig .the other two gigs were supossed to be with our new drummer We admittadley only had one rehearsal with him but He had the set list for over 8 weeks & obviously hadn't listened to a single song & the guitarist dropped certain intros because he said they were boring lol .
Playing the bass intro to "No More Heroes" & then no drum intro & the drummer is just looking at you ..He had 6 weeks notice & didn't even listen to the song lol & no one helps me set the PA up & break it down ...I'm off .
I'm sick & tired of doing gigs with talented musicians in this case a drummer that don't even listen to the songs , They might be able to blag it in a blues type jam but not when you doing covers like , Killers , Stranglers & Yes for flip sake !! grrrr !!....& calm .
