1.
This would go nicely with the Neo 210 currently for sale on the forum
That's what I was thinking .
2.
Thanks.. looks meaty ,
1000W RMS 2000w peak It's been dampened down a bit ( what ever that means ) because some 8 x 10" cabs were blown in it's development , just love it . The fan is so powerful it's like a jet engine turning it's enines off when turning it off
3.
Still a class D though, which is the essential thrust of this thread... And given Ashdowns reluctance to release specs with any useful detail it's hard to make any real comparisons.. Or it's reviewed by someone with access to instrumentation like the guys as BassGear mag online.. Fancy popping the lid off you ABM1000 and taking some photos?
4. Perhaps try a Ahsdown ABM 1000 digital head ,it made my Mark Bass & Tc head sound very thin IMHO .
5. How often does your guitarist tune up at a gig , Mine does it nearly every song that's not normal is it ? I think he's got crap machine heads or being ocd.
6. This Sica driver is custom made for Ashdown , The only reason I've got it is because of the power of my ABM1000 . I don't like to get involved with all the technical info ,The product either works for me or it doesn't . For me The Ashdown had better dispersion especially when using Synth sounds via my Roland GR55 The tweeter definitely helps Here But the Low end dispersion was pretty much the same as the Barefaced . I mainly play pick style & for me the Ashdown cut through a live mix a lot better in the mids . I really really wasn't expecting to like it more but I just do . Plus I like the inset handle a lot more
7.
Wow, that's pretty awesome and a nice result for Ashdown! Are the regular drivers just as good as these 700w albeit without the same power handling? Eude
The standard speaker is a Blueline speaker ? but White Sounds pretty good to me .
8. I just can't believe this is still here ,It's the only digital Head that I've had that doesn't sound like a typical digital head .
9. As new Including Covers , I would consider delivering to Portsmouth or Southampton area .Also advertised locally .
10. Could you give me the dimensions please .
11. Well I've now done several gigs with the Ashdown RM 12 with the Sica 700w driver fitted , Word of warning these speakers are not a straight exchange if you are thinking of doing it yourself , The hole needs another 3.5 mm routed out .Ashdown can do this for you & this version works out at about £380 . As I said before I've only done this because I have the ABM1000 . I took the Barefaced to both gigs & swapped the cabs mid set & Had two professional sound engineer friends at both gigs to give me feed back . Conclusion was quite simple for me I'll be selling two Barefaced super compacts in great condition with roqsolid covers .
12. Bruce Foxton , Foo fighters , Guy Pratt ,JJ Burnel , Mark King , are well known for their woolly sound
13. As I use a ABM1000 that's 1000watts & 2000peak the Ashdown cabs was designed to be used with the Root master Heads & this cab is 350 watts ( 8 ohms) , The Barefaced is 600w. After speaking to Lee at Ashdown I'm going to get a Sica driver from them that is capable of handling the ABM that works out at about £100 including Vat .
14.
It's only an opinion. Settle down.
15.
Google's "lbs". 10kg - not bad! That's got to be less than your amp hasn't it?
The Amp is Digital & weighs a bit less , It certainly doesn't sound like one though
16. When it comes to cost of a product , you have to take loads of things into account , labor , rent , buying new equipment , research ,for larger companies that have a lot of these things in place & they can do high quantity orders of materials & if they are established enough they can sell a product at a loss to get into a market . I'm not affiliated with Ashdown or Barefaced both companies make good products . The only thing I'm not keen on The Ashdown is the Cloth grill . & I will keep the Barefaced in the van just in case
17.
Interesting first impressions - it'll be good to hear how you feel about the Ashdown after a few gigs! I've never got on with Ashdown amps but have used a few of the cabs & they've always been fine - enjoyment of sound is such an interesting one as we all perceive it differently & have different tonal goals (as I found out in my own recent cab search), often the most pleasing cab to the ear isn't the loudest. Decent handles on the Ashdown too - how much does it weigh?
Weight is 22lbs
18.
I trust your testing was done with the cabs in different positions? As in A/B as your pic, then A/B with the Ashdown on the bottom?
As I said , Both were placed on the floor in exactly the same position , as each other when tested on their own . not stacked at all .
19. Just to answer a few questions , The tweeter has a off /med /high switch , I've just been trying them again at gigging volume , One thing to bear in mind is that I'm using a Ashdown ABM1000 & it has a lot more oomph than , anything else I've had , Mark bass TC , etc I originally got this because I use a Roland GR55 & with synth sounds I thought the Ashdowns tweeter would help if this cab was sat on top of the Barefaced . But I didn't expect it to be as good as it is as a stand alone cab ..The mid range is slightly more pronounced & that suites my plectrum style .Initially I'm very impressed , I'll report back after a couple of gigs lets see if it farts out or falls to pieces , It sits really well on top of the Barefaced super compact so could be a cheaper alternative to those thinking of getting a midget .
20. £13 plus for one string flippin heck . I'm use to changing my strings every gig Legacy I might have to re think this lol .
21. Two Shuker basses , The one on the left is a Six string ,with loads of EQ & side LEDS , I'm going to re string it F#--G with advice from Dood & see how I get on with them . I picked them up from Martin Simms & I didn't realize it was the same person I went to school with & had a jolly good chat .
22. I went mental & got these
23. The Ashdown Cab arrived this morning & I spent several hours A/B ing them Both were put on the floor & eq set flat , I tried them at different volume levels & to be honest there is very very little difference between the two to my ears .Maybe I may have a different opinion after a few gigs ? Together they sound very good also . I could be looking at shifting one of My Barefaced cabs If not both .
24. can you get them & recommendations please . thanks.
