2. Do you think this set up would be loud enough for pub gigs 80 -100 punters ? baring in mind the sensitivity of the cab & the power of valves ?
3. I think i'll order the 12" & compare is to my Barefaced compact

11. I'm going for a horn in a separate box . a mate of mine who use to work for JBL is going to wire it all up for me , Ive come up with a couple of designs so it can be attached & removed from a cab & change the angle . I'll post some pics once done .
12. It's like a Trace Elliot Bright box
13. New photos added bump .

16.
I see that you travel in your post but where are you based on weekends?
Ryde, Isle of Wight
17. Ashdown great range of UK made stuff , great support & will do custom stuff .
18. I use to have a TC 250 head & next to my Ashdown it just just sounded very very thin , I'd agree with the above & from what I've seen the 2nd hand Ashdown & Trace stuff seems very good value .
19. I spent most of my life doing original stuff , working out new covers takes me ages As I think when I was doing my own stuff my mind would work differently letting my imagination take over , I get frustrated working other peoples stuff out thinking " what the flip are they doing " Once I've worked out one or two songs by the same artist /bassist I do find it easier .
20. I HATE!!!! working covers out takes me ages & I HATE!!! it even more when a band member says "can we drop this one"
21. I have lights but a lot of pubs down my way already have lights ,So it's worth asking .
22.
In that situation a piezo tweeter might be worth trying, they cost pennies and don't need a crossover. The down side is that they don't sound great but if they are just your personal monitor for the synth they might just give you enough to save you spending a fortune. There won't be a huge effect on your bass sound either. Power handling isn't great, they are usually rated in the maximum voltage they can handle 25-35V rms which equates to around 100W at 8 ohms, synth puts out a lot of power into the horns. The simple solution is to wire two in series ( I can hear Stevie and BFM flinching here as this is sooo wrong acoustically) It will work though I've got a box full of these in the loft , if you want to try and are happy to pay postage pm me and I'll send you a couple gratis. you can try them just resting on the cab and build a box after if you are happy with how they sound.
Thanks very much for your kind offer , I've got a couple of friends that run PA hire companies & they are giving me some stuff to try out .
23.
The super compact has a usable frequency range up to 4khz. I'd be surprised if you couldn't dial in the top end you are looking for with a decent eq.
I better explain my situation . I really like the actual bass tone I get , But in an attempt to cut down on gear I have to lump around & for speed of setting up in small pubs I've re programed my Roland Gr55 so all the synth sounds go through the compact instead of a monitor , Sound out front sounds fine as its gong through the PA tops I just want a bit more clarity from my side for the synth stuff .It will be nice not having a monitor in the way when a small tweeter will do, built in or separate .
24. Thanks for every ones advice .
25. Most other Brands make cabs that are easily stackable , I was thinking of getting a midget but my PA head won't balance comfortably on it . I'll probably look at some other brands & sell these .
