1. I'm thinking of fitting a tweeter to one of my Barefaced Super Compacts ..How hard can it be ? rather than trying to trade it against a midget or BB2 that aren't the same size for stacking . Any advice welcome .
2. I experimented today & the top end going through he PA tops definitely sounds better , I may see if I can trade one of my Compacts for a midget & use that with the other compact .
3.
What's the build quality like - will it survive on the floor?
It's very robust . I like the pre shape & DI level .
4. i'm using this at the moment & I really like it .

I use one in my Flat for practice , I connect my laptop to it along with my Gr55 playing synth sounds & it works for me . I originally got it thinking I could use it as a monitor but I found if you turn the volume up it also increases the DI level making it unpractical .
6. Bass to Roland Gr55 into Ashdown Graphic pedal to PA one of internal amps powering a Barefaced super compact nice & simple sounds great .
7. For me punch is just as much getting the balance of volume right between myself & the kick drum & being tight .
8.
The thing which really pulls me toward the Big Twin, (other than it providing a hefty amount of low end!!!!) Is the wide dispersion tweeter. The clarity when I move around on stage is much improved especially as it carries some upper mid range frequencies too I understand. In terms of synth sounds - if we're talking polyphony and also all the effects that come with them, then I'd probably go with BB2's or Big Twin II. - BB2 would be great for the stereo effects if you run two amplifier channels! If however your synth bass sounds are all just low bass range effects then maybe you won't be so fussed about the top end sparkle of a shimmer reverb, ping pong delays and rich swirling stereo flanged bass synth chords!
We do Sledge Hammer Peter Gabriel ,For example with the brass & Horns & on top of that I use loads of octaver & compression for the bass tone , for small gigs I use one the PA amps to power the compact (no bass head), I'm thinking BB2 as the pa would sit nicely on top of that .
9. I'm trying to cut down on gear I carry , mainly for small pub gigs , anything big I'll use the Compacts just as a monitor & use the PA cross over with active subs
10.
I would think something like the SuperTwin could be a bit of a better fit for Synth Sounds. No idea why I think this mind you... just an inkling
I sold mine , & got two super compacts , mainly for my back , but I do prefer the sound of the compacts .
11. I currently use Super Compacts , but I've started putting my GR55 synth sounds etc through my rig ,would I be better off with a BB2 or maybe it wouldn't matter to much ?
12.
http://basschat.co.uk/topic/290680-quilter-bass-block-800/ This is pretty tiny and apparently hugely powerful
This looks interesting where can you buy these ?
13. What is the smallest bass head on the market 300w plus ? (NB wasn't impressed with the TC 250 ) I thought I better add that I use to have MB stuff over 8 years ago & with the speed at which technology moves I expect there is a lot smaller stuff around ? It's mainly to be used as a back up as I'm experimenting going straight in my PA .
14.
I'd looked at the XR1212 to do something similar a few years back. Looks like a great desk. Do you use the auto setup features at all?
Yes I do , It's a very powerful bit of kit , for larger venues I use the sub out going to Two powered EV subs . Great value for the money .
15. Can anyone tell me anything about these are the UK made ? Quality is it the same stasndard as Shuker type builds ? Thanks .
16.
I've just sold my Warwick Corvetter $$ 5 which had the best B string I have heard, probably even better better than my MTD 535-24. It was seriously phat and not flabby at all. And it was a 34 inch neck. Truly awesome bass. Here's it in action: ( land of confusion and I feel for you covers) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB-GYzef3Ok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgQA4XJdsqA
Nice ! I use to have a 5 String Warwick Streamer but I just couldn't get on with my slap technique
17.
Wouldn't a small D class head be less overkill than using a powered desk?
I use the rest of the PA for everyone else , 3 vocal mics , Kemper guitar , powering two EV tops .& running two monitors off of it via the other internal amp .
18. My new set up for pubs up to 100 I go from my roland Gr55 into the Peavey XR1212 this has two internal 600w amps ,one I use just for bass & has it's own graphic ,I could use two super compacts but one is enough , this saves me using my Ashdown Head & 2 active subs & a monitor for the Gr55 , less mucky muck to sort out . 19. just fiddle with stuff until you get a sound you like
20.
Hm you may have played with that side of things more than me then... on the VB99 I can 'hold' a note using the D-Beam thingy but I haven't tried phasing it in and out. Have you tried the Vguitar forums, there are some very knowledgeable chaps on there. Often it takes me a few days to get my head around their answers! Cheers ped
OK thanks , I'll try them .
21. I have a mate that is selling two TC cabs on the IoW....Personally I'd go for the BF cab or check out the white Ashdown cabs .
22. I'm a bit surprised that he uses leads a lot of the time considering how much He moves around on stage .
23.
Pah! I used to respect Foxton but he'll never get his trademark cutting tone on a woolly Ashdown, and what is he thinking mixing speaker sizes? Perhaps he should sign up here and be educated a bit. Come on Foxton, must try harder!
Don't start I suppose that's why it's also used by JJB great amps & I've owned most makes .
24. I certainly don't , I hardly understand any theory , I try to make noises I like , artist maybe & I get paid for it most of the time .
25. I think it depends on their circumstances , a lot of people are hard up & with tax bills to pay etc ,
