1. I moved the controls & jack input over 1"
2. i know I said I wasn't getting one , but I've had the GR55 for about a month now , I'm very impressed with it . It's definitely worth going through the manual & setting every thing up properly including the pick up , & the back up from roland has been excellent . I've put it on my shuker 36" & perhaps the extra string tension helps the tracking ? It won't track 16th notes very well though but on the whole I'm very pleased. if at first you find a sound you like but you think it's not tracking as well as it should , you can probably sort it out via editing .

Roland GR55

Does anyone just use the one output or do you have the synth stuff going through to the PA ?
4. as I have to fit the controller over the bridge , this stops it fitting in the flight case , Do most people take it off every time or use a gig bag ?
5. My Drummer who is also the vocalist , asked " Because I'm getting a Roland GR55 does this mean we could do duo versions of our covers set "? My opinion is if its a good song we can do a version .What do you think ?
6.
Have you ever played a Chapman Stick?
I'd be looking at the the 8 string bass version & I use to do a bit of hand tapping & can play a bit of piano / would be doing covers .
7. Out of frustration of trying to form a band , I was just talking to my Singer who is also the drummer & we were talking about going out as a duo I can either use a chapman stick or my Shuker bass with a Roland GR synth . I have a pretty good PA & the choice of electric or acoustic Kit ...Any thought welcome .
8. They don't reply to my emails
9. Is there a UK supplier ?
10. This one is nearly ready & I can't wait
11. Just in case you're interested My Ashdown ABM 1000 is nearly finished , I already have the 400 & I can't wait
12. I use a ABM digital head with 2 x 2x10 Ashdown neo lite cabs , they sound great , they give me the height for monitoring & look great . I also have a Barefaced super 12T cab I use for back up , I have to cut 180 frequency with this cab quite a bit to get the same sound .
13. To be honest I have never had one , all I can say IMHO the demo I have seen on you tube doesn't do it justice at all in fact it couldn't have been worse . comparing it to my markbass little Rocker & MarkBass Mo Mark , it has a lot of depth, clarity & punch , It made my TC 250 sound like tiny transistor radio . I really don't under stand why more of these were not sold , I've tried to find fault with it & I just can't I have to cover stuff from Blondie ,Peter Gabriel,PIL, Yes to name a few & it does it all very well . I've had a lot of amps & none of them have been as good as this .
14. Ashdown are a great company to work with I have a ABM 400 digital head & they are just making me a ABM1000 .
15. I did all that in the 80's , & can't be bothered with all that faffing around
16.
I would dig that ABM 1000 too! There is one at Chicago Music Exchange ($1500) for USA Ashdown fans.
I'd go for it , It's worth every penny of the RRP
17. it started , when I asked for some information on a ABM600 & the ABM1000 , Lee offered me a ABM 2000 they had, but while emailing me it had sold , He then offered me the ABM1000 for a great price , but that had gone as well , So they are building me one from scratch for the same quoted price ....Just a great company to deal with .
18. Stage one
19. Ashdown are building a ABM1000 just for me having already having the ABM 400 I plug it in I think "bloody hell that's a great sound" & I've never consistently had that thought . Such a flexible amp .
20. Having owned the 400 watt version for 2 years now I have just ordered the 1000w version , I've never been so happy with an amp . The 400 watt version is easily loud enough for most gigs I just wanted the 1000 because it's there . comparing it to the MB & TC heads I have it's got so much more depth .
21. RIP Chris . I'll always remember Jon standing in between Chris & I & saying "are all bass players big bastards ?" We wouldn't have a lot of bass players we have today if it wasn't for him .
22. I have the the ABM 400 digital I like it a lot & was planning on getting the 1000w version . But would I be missing out on what the ABM 600 could do ? I wish someone would make the decision for me as I can't A/B them & wasting far too much time thinking about it .
23. I've just seen a great review on a couple of Barefaced cabs by Dan Veall . Dan used several styles. & had the cabs mic'd up .Why don't other manufactures do this instead just relying on crap you tube clips done on someones phone or some guy just showing of & not demonstrating the range of sound ?
24. I wouldn't get a lesser powered amp , when pub is full of punters that's going to change all the acoustics So have a walk out the front if you can or ask a friend you trust to walk around to check sound levels , positioning of your rig can also make a huge difference , I think it's more of an EQ thing , playing stuff like Stranglers ,Jam , Yes , Rush you the bass doesn't need to be that loud just a different EQ , I always try to have my volume just below the volume of the bass drum .
