That's all well and good, but what does it sound like where it counts, in the audience? Having subs (and you need more than one unless the room is tiny) on stage is not the best placement where driving the room is concerned.
We are playing small venues & I have to admit I like the sound & feel of the bass drum rather than the thin sound that we were getting through the monitors & it still sounds great out front .

Everything was fine until the drummer who is also the singer decided he liked having the Sub behind him & I must admit the bass drum does sound good compared to what was coming through the monitors . I'm thinking about adapting his drum stool so it fits in the pole mounting in the sub
ive a 4ohm acme cab, you could have it if you want, but it will be quieter than your current cab with that amp, and as bill says not solve your problem! why not use the barefaced cab in your sig?
The barefaced is a great cab & I do use it with other bands , But with this set up , I just can't hear it when I'm so close to it & the 2 x10 stacked up with all the other stuff at more of a ear level on tight stages , Alex did suggest the big baby II cab but the 8 ohms put me off , but from what your saying that won't make any difference ?

My band uses an electric drum kit & therefor it goes through the PA after trying several set ups we prefer the active pa sub being behind us , with very little room in most if the pubs we play in I put , my Asdown 2x10 on top of the sub & it all looks very tidy , the only thing is I'm not getting all of that power out of my Abm 400RH , the bass is going through the PA but only for a bit of spread & I'd like to get more punch out of the 2x10 ,The other option is to trade the head against the 1000w version I suppose as the cab is rated at 500w rms @ 8 ohms.

I tend to get comments about My Band , Then myself , then my Shuker bass in that order the only comments I've had about my rig have been , (Barefaced ), "did you make that yourself ?" ...(Ashdown rig ) " That looks old" .
Mmm .everyones hearing varies what I hear in a cab may not suit you and likewise ,try every cab you can get your hands on .you could spend hundreds on one cab and a couple k on a pair then not like them when you get them home .it happens been there done that .ive also played cabs and combo which are dirt cheap and sounded great as mentioned earlier .just have a word with other bass player and get their views .i am happy with my set up at the moment but I never rule out changing it ,if it does not give what I want anymore and I've had some rigs but that's another story !
I totally agree , I use the rig I use after taking practical stuff into account like where is it going to go on Stage & in the Van , How easy it to move etc.

I think it's just as important to look like you actually want to be there & getting into it , the the audience will relax . I did a gig on Sunday starting at 6pm I spent the first set still thinking about weather I had turned the washing machine off or something domestic & it showed . on the second set we got into it & it was like a completely different Audience .

I've had an ampeg 8 x 10 , Ampeg portaflex , Now I have a barefaced super12T but right now I favour my ashdown Neo 2x 10 ..been very impressed with it .

is it only me ? , but I love a tiny bit of fret buzz that I get, when really digging in. I love that bit of zing ......or am I mad ?
Aaaaargh!!! He mentioned handles ...
I mentioned handles once & now I'm under Police protection .

I found that the octave tone print reduced the volume by about a 3rd .

I use a Peavey xr1212 & Alto 12" monitors I put the Keyboards & Electric drums through the monitors But the peavey does have a low cut on the monitor out .. I've never thought of putting my bass through as well , I think I will give it a try as Some time I just cant hear any note definition on a tight stage but it sounds great about 8 ft away .& the monitors could help .
-
I have now done a few gigs using the Alto 15 " powered Sub & the whole band have been very impressed great value for money .

I think it depends on how much the pub is paying most pubs don't pay a lot & 4 orange juices will hardly break the bank compared to how much they took over the bar .

I've had this for a few months now , I can't compare it to any other Ashdown head but I can compare it to a MB Little Rocker , MB 250 MO Mark & TC 250 Head . I've tried all of these heads with my Barefaced super 12T & Ashdown ABM Neo 2 x10 . The first thing that stands out When using the Ashdown head is the low end that I just can't get with any of the other heads , When using it with the BF cab I found I had to roll off a lot of the Low mid compared to the Neo 2 x10 . The MB & TC heads seem to give a very HI FI type sound that does sound good when playing solo but can get lost when playing with a band . The Ashdown also seems to have a distinctive thud in mid range At first I wasn't sure if I liked it ? but loved it once playing with the band the sound really cuts through & adds an underlying bottom end even when doing driven sounds like on Stranglers covers . Using the foot switch I have control over the amps over drive ,EQ, compression & the Sub harmonic ...this saves me using any other pedals . The compression & Sub harmonic used together gives me the best sound I've ever been able to get when doing Peter Gabriels "sledge hammer" This EQ set up makes getting a sound you like very quick compared to some amps . At 400 watts it's louder than the 500w Little Rocker & it certainly doesn't sound like a digital amp . Build qaulity is very good , I like the light on the mute button . The only two things that confused me is that the pre shape is automaticly on & on the DI out if you want your EQ & Effect settings to go to the PA this button has to be pressed in, I've found this to be the other way round on other makes . I wouldn't mind trying the 1000w version to see what it's like driving the Neo 2 x10 to it's max , Not that it's required . To sum up this is the best gigging amp I have ever had Being a digital amp there is probably enough room to add a built in tunner & Chorus but then that would be asking too much .maybe .

Mark at Ashdown , has told me that these cabs should come with feet on the bottom & side , They are just sending me some in the post as mine didn't .
-
Ashdown ABM mini 2 x 10 Neo has more punch than my S12T.
-
I realised why the handles are in the posistions they have been fixed but for me , getting the equipment out of the van , carrying the cab up stairs & through doorways using the side handle was unpracticle ...that's just my opinion . Alex has informed me that the top handle can be moved but a inset handle can't be fitted because of the internal braceing .

I have the Ashdown Neo 2 x10 cab I Also have a Barefaced super 12T I have now done a few gigs with both cabs using the ABM 400 RH . The Barefaced cab naturally emphasizes the low end , too much for the plectrum style I like ,So I have to do a lot with the EQ & when gigging on a small stage I get a great sound when standing out front for a sound check but when standing on a tight stage I can't hear note definition very well , With the Ashdown 2 x10 even though it's a shorter cab I can hear it perfectly & get the sound I like with hardly any EQ . I use a 36" Shuker tuned D G C F & have no problems at all when playing with the octaver when we do some Peter Gabriel stuff . I'm about to order another 2 x10 to get the full efficiency out of the head not that I need it plus I think they look cool .
-
I have a Ashdown ABM light 500w Head & at the moment just one Ashdown 8 ohm 2 x 10 Neo Light cab . How much wattage am I using Is it 250w ? & would it be louder using another cab or just moving more air ? & what's the difference ?
