I is a 5 string either my stingray 5 or the Dingwall a markbass head and 4x10 and a vt pedal and it sounds pretty close. I can prob say when you play you will more than likely the only person in the room thinking about you tone ! Unless there is another bass player in the audience, if you spot one beware he is most likely think more about how he can rob your gig ! Just make sure you lock in with your drummer and play your balls off

Loads of famous bands out there with crap singers, but they are great performers and get away with it, there is a huge amount to pick from but you tube Tom petty the waiting to see a clip of him talk about and at a bit of "the waiting" worst vocal ever. What you got to do is ask your self can he out preform his lack of vocal technique ?

I'd actually rather listen to Jessie J's 'Price Tag'

Yup fast forwarded to the sax and bass solo, I thought it was a guitar for a while as his tone was so awful. I just can't stand jazz, and most of the people who play it or sit in clubs nodding along with a face that looks like they are in superior pain. Sorry guys each to there own but nobody will convince me that this is better than Jamerson, or take that -
I'm moving to Canada

Is being in a full-time band compatible with family life?
swanbrook replied to Roland Rock's topic in General Discussion
I am faced with this again and again I am choosing to stay at home. I have spent 6 years building up my wedding band into a very successful outfit. I am fully booked for the year and have about 40 dates for next year in already. I get paid to play music and I get to see my wife and kids everyday. After readi g this thread I am giving the originals band the elbow tomorrow. I don't want to mess with what I have here. This is the second time I have had to do this, I diddnt regret it the first time don't suppose I will this time either -
So, an actual pair of real living musical geniuses?

We are pretty muched booked up with weddings every weekend and while I am very thankful that we are I do love playing the odd venue now and then. Quay's in Galway friday night was a blast and a breath of fresh air http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z172/DTG77/fbfdfdf8.jpg

I find myself less and less likely to ever buy anything with only 4 strings or more than five.

Glad it went well lad and fair play to you for doing it. Living in ireland it's very normal to have a band at a wake, but most of the time people are too drunk to notice When my mum died there was no black clothes allowed everybody had to wear party dresses or bright suits, the church looked like a wedding She had said Life is to be celebrated not mourned My thought and prayers to you and your singer and again fair play to ya for being brave enough to do it.

I have a few fender or neotec neoprene strapps and love them. They are short which fits me but if you like it long they may not b the one for you.

Congrats, it was an Abz that made me fall in love with Dingwall. The "wonky" frets took me about two minutes to feel comfortable with Nice bass congrats again !
I'll take you up on that and please don't think I've demonized I realise some people don't get my humour so I'm sorry if offence is taken.
Hey sorry dude diddnt mean to offend you and I hope there is no serious problem with anybody collecting basses. I have bought 2 basses in my life that I have not played in person, one I am really happy with the other a music man I was a bit annoyed by the lack of quality control but it was a fine bass. You seem to be far less lucky or maybe have a better attention to detail. You see I do work as a Musican and I do make a good living from it but basses are my tools of the trade. I don't get to spend time going over them as much as I would like because when I am not playing I am with my family. I am not having a go at you dude but considering how you do seem to be less forgiving than I am I don't understand why you keep ordering basses that you haven't played yet that's all dude I am alway curious to see if the guys here play and what type of gig they do. As I said I diddnt mean to sound like I was being disrespectful. D

I have had 3 jazz basses still have two well one is a jazz special from 83 and that's the only one I have ever gigged. Just don't cut the mustard For me yet I still buy them thinking the next will the one ! A few years back I went over to Denmark st with a pocket full of cash and played every old bass I could find. A 71 p bass was he only one I nearly bought. I do dig the whole old bass feel thing but I just haven't found one yet. All my basses are in pretty good shape even the 83 jazz and my 93 ray spouse I just like the feel of a new bass. I do like that whole relic thing ( I know it's not seen as a good thing) but all the old worn basses I have played have felt like they got slung out of a speeding car while the relic ones just like they have but play like a new bass.

Sorry dude I meant him but since we are on it are u Gigi g much ? I was just wondering if the other Gareth plays all his basses much or weather they stay in the bedroom !

Diddnt think much of the reviews, a jazz that sounds like a p and a p that sounds like its trying to be a jazz ?
