1. Hey Gareth Are you gigging at the minute ?
2. Buy a bongo but please for the love of all things bassey try it out first ! Bongo was one of my all time favourite basses, for me I just could never dig the shape I tried but it just diddnt happen. As I said before my main bass is a Dingwall so it's not that I am "stuck in 1952" I do I like different shaped basses. Bongos are tone monsters you got to try one !
3. Yup already sold a jazz a p bass and a ebmm. Still have another jazz and p which are up for sale. I am going to keep my stingray 5 and a fretless stingray. But I haven't played another bass since I got my ABII.
4. What a fun song to play, the deon guy is on the money. I have played a few george Micheal tunes over the years and I am always surprised by how funky the bass lines are
5. Any other ex smokers still dream about them at night ?? Don't get me wrong of course I am glad I'm off them but sometimes I still dream about them
6. Dude that's class !!
7. Yeah that's a fairly simple version the original guy I think his name was deon plays some killer runs at around 2:45 mark, I will have a proper listen tonight The only person who would know its not perfect is me ;-)
8. Soert guys if this is in the wrong section, I have a dep gig Friday and this is the only song I don't know, if I remember right there is a lot of bass runs and stuff in it. Normally I would sit down and chart it but I don't have time. So a big favor does anyone have the chart for this ? It would save my neck ;-) Cheers guys D
9.
Perhaps did not see you because her ego was in the way. Why was she touching your instrument, singers have no business touching instruments. I bet she was just a singer and does not play any other instrument, any real musician would confess. A hairbrush diva methinks.
Worse , she play a Martin guitar but would have no idea how much daddy paid for it. I am not being bitchy she would tell you the same I worked my ass off for every bass I have and can tell how much I paid for everyone of them
10. 11 years off them but still love the smell of standing beside someone with a fag. My mother in law still smokes and does it on top of my kids it drives me insane so we just don't go there much.
11. I have been doing it every gig for years and never had a problem. I just couldn't get over someone dropping gear and then not saying a word. At least I know the Dingwall takes a bit of abuse.
12.
progressive social policies.
I was with you till that point and then realised you where being silly
13. Most venues in ireland smell like stale piss and cabbage now. I have smelt pain it's the result of country folk eating too much and drinking guinness all day.sometimes I miss the smell of smoke

16. I have always believed in being honest I dropped my drummers bass drum, it was in a hard case and if fell about a foot but I still brought it over to him told him and got him to check it was ok. Last weekend I was a dep for a local band with a female singer. It was freezing outside and roasting in the bar so I put my hard case out of the way and opened it to let my bass warm up. Don't know if it does any good but I have been doing it for 20 years and I have not killed a bass yet. Anyway singer come in and try to move a open case with the Handel (the lid was open so you could see the bass ) out pops my Dingwall abII flying across the floor arse over tit. She then did a quick look left look right nobody saw that and walked away. She diddnt see me behind her. So I picked it up and put it away. Me being me I couldn't let it go and had to say something. She still never said a word ! I played a blinder of a gig, the guys where trilled and asked about me doing more dates but 1) I am lucky enough to be too busy and 2) I honestly don't think I could Rant over ;-) Oh btw the bass was fine
17. I must tick up a pick of my 83 jazz I gigged it for 20 years and it doesn't look that cool ! It has all the history but none of the scars and I am not even that carful with my basses
18. I used to love the smell of smokie bars off my bass, made it feel like a working bass
19. Not sure Fran but it may have been the rug on the sofa that put Gareth off ;-) beautiful bass
20. Wow that is class, I would buy that !!
21. Polish !! Well I hope you got some Irish mick's to do the tarmac at least ..... Can you keep one in work ? Don't tell me there is no space I have seen the size of the boat :-) Hey are you back to work yet ?
22. Beautiful colour combo if I was to buy another jazz that's how it would look right there
23. I don't hate fender, I just wish the qc was better. I still have 3 fenders one lives in a mates studio, its a 83 jap the other 2 are USA. And never get taken out. A squire p bass was the best p I a ever had and it cost 100 quid Open your mind and ears There is more sounds tones and feel out there But if you want to stay with your fender than do that. Just don't get your knickers in a twist because I choose not to. Other companies make fenders better than fender. However they do get it right sometimes, the geddy is a fantastic bass. 1600 quid for a USA jazz bass against say a Sandberg jazz for the same money and the difference in quality is very surprising. Anyway just my 2 cents , which like most isn't worth 2 cent or even the time it took to type this.
24. So fender are now doing hi end copies of ....... Fender !
