It's easier to beg for forgiveness then ask for premission ! Gas is a strange thing, as musicians I think most of us will get it every now and then. Its hard to keep gigging every week you need to treat yourself now and then. Btw what are you gassing for

Good topic! I have victors last cd and while I think he is an unreal player I can't listen to more than 2 or 3 songs before I have to turn it off. I also could not sing any tune from the cd off the top of my head. I have a pop ear, I like a tune with a hook in it even if it means the bass player is playing the same thing over and over and over again! To me ( and it might just be me! ) but that what bass is about. Holding he band together, locking I. With the drums keeping the back bone right on the money. Think chic mr Edwards play amazing lines but they are all lines we could sing off the top of our heads. Sir paul the same. To me a great player is one who can do both be an amazing player but also cross over I to commercial side and still have us want to play his lines! I envy victors skill And knowledge but I still can't listen to the whole cd There is a kid in my town that everybody thinks is a cool player and someday he will pick up a guitar and realize thats what he has been trying to play all along

Yeah I think flea is a class player but that is very funny

Cheers guys, I will push for a deal with a few notes too Dave

I have a 93 USA jazz and was going to sell it,I also have a few other jazz basses that I will keep. I have been offered a g&l trib 2500 as a straight swap, I don't know much about them but I am very tempted as I really only use 5 stings at the moment. Is it a fair trade ?
If you were a reading musician, you wouldn't rip up the score and compain that you weren't going to be dictated too, would you? Why be any different when you've auditioned to be in someone else's band? I could understand you being protective over your parts if it was your band and your music, but if you've joined a band to fill a void, you should play what the songwriter/leader asks you too (maybe with the addition of a limited number of slight stylistic improvements) You should take it because being in another person's band isn't all about you. Being professional in your approach to bass is more about fitting into the band and the collective vision (or the vision of the band leader/creator) than trying to show everyone how good you are individually. You don't have to play hundreds of notes and flashy OTT slap riffs to write a good bass line, as exemplified by this (only using 4 notes in total throughout!) P.S. As for Guy Berryman, I happen to think that his bass lines are perfect for the music he plays (for example, 'Trouble' wouldn't be the same without the signature bass part).
Wow dude you put this so much better than I could ever say !

Pre Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 1979 ( Price Update!!)
swanbrook replied to Tradfusion's topic in Basses For Sale

I paid €3600 for it, then a few months later the reflex was launched at a fraction of that price. But the quilted maple top is rather nice and it will prob be the only time I ever spend that much on a bass. I will see if I have some pictures floating around

Wow night and day ! This cat can play. Still not my cup of tea but there is no doubt he has skill
-
He can play that is for sure, however far too many notes for my taste but I would bet at a gig he never plays like that.
-
Yup I have the 25 th ann model which is the same thing just with a maple top on it. Pretty cool bass wide range of tones and far lighter than most 5 strings I have played. The switches only take a while to get used to then it becomes easy as pie. Build is solid as a rock. Good bass with loads of tone options can go from jamerson to flea in a flick of a switch or two!
-
To me White and tort and hss gives so many options it's unreal
-
I think it just as cool as cool can be,it screams rock n roll to me. I would love to get one but I just fear it's a young guns bass (no offence Fran, your a cool looking dude anyway so you can pull it off) Lady gaga's bass player was using one for a while. not mad about her but it look very cool on stage with her. White with tort and a maple bored single H ! If I was 10 years younger. Funny I never liked the shape of the jazz body so bought a jazz special which has a p bass body and a jazz neck best of both worlds.
Hi Dave, nice to see you here, personally I don't give a hoot about the argument in question, but I can tell you that the sandbergs are nice basses, specially their 5 strings maple jazz with active / passive preamp, however as Jazz bass go, I can reassure you that all the more established and brain savy members here will tell you that, you can go round circles and spend silly money on boutique vamped jazz or precision basses but... in the end, ain't nothing like the real thing so stick with your Fender or get a better one, ask in fact. OutToPlayJazz about that wicked Limited Ed Jazz he got and he will tell you chapter and verse about it. Take care and please look after my Bongo with extreme care when you get it next month. Fran
Ha dude don't worry it wil be babied with tlc. You could be right on the jazz front I love my jazz special but not crazy on my standard jazz. Maybe I just need to flip it and look out for another!
Hey Swanbrook. Welcome to the forum, not all threads are like this, lighten up, etc. etc. But surely you have spotted the irony here? A thread basically about someone being rude and confrontational to his customers is now being challenged by someone being rude and confrontational. Feel free to disagree....god knows we cover that debate here often enough but how about little a less of the "bullshit" and "school ground crap" and "lots of twats on this forum" comments. I am amazed that anyone has tried to placate you at all with that attitude. People have been banned for less. And for what it's worth, I read the original post that kicked it all off over there and I don't think the guy was being "a prick" at all and it seems that most here agree. Have you thought of going out and coming back in again? Starting fresh? Maybe go in off topic and ask about your prematurity problems? Fair enough point taken however I do tend to fight fire with fire. We do have a different view on how the op asked his questions but that's what make individuals tick.

Look all I need is another 8532 responses and its a record Do you really beleive that I beleive everything I spout.. Lighten up its a laff And I dont know if you have heard but..............allegedly BPs not to fond of you
Then bp can get on the end of a very long que that I don't really care for. I do believe that when the customer is wrong he should be told. I am however not saying he was right to cut that guy up but hey poke a bear enough and he will rip you up. Going back to the op I did love the bit when he said he " came for a line of Italian engineers" well thank god for that cause had they been French everyone would have thought you a total muppet.
