  1. Working for the Yankee Dollar - The Skids
  2. Looks a tiny little bit like a Ritter don't you think.
  3. Lovely little basses. I sneak a secret look whenever I'm on the Bass Direct website.
  4. Firstly I believe that there are very few bad basses on sale currently. The standard of construction and quality control is a class above what was available when you were 17. Secondly the Sire was designed around Marcus Miller and he insisted on quality. There's a video somewhere that you might want to watch. There's also that "honeymoon period " that goes with buying a new bass - it always feels better than what you already have. Enjoy your new toys!!
  5. Whichever bass you take you need to impress with how you play not what you walked through the door with. Take which ever you feel most comfortable with on the day and don't worry till then.
  6. I think that I recently put a bass in the spare one I have (with Overwater logo). Great cases but not the best for stacking. Should have sold by now bump.
  7. Stuck in the middle with you - Stealers Wheel
  8. Was any of this connected to the 5 ads for cheap holiday stuff yesterday? They looked really suspicious.
  9. I'm happy to act as the Guinea Pig Alex if you're reading this.... The rest of you...get back in line you rowdy lot!!
  10. Not quite "hated" but TBH I wasn't overly impressed by "School Days" at first, preferring "We supply" from the "Rocks, stones..." album. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.
  11. I have a 55-01 in black - don't like to touch it because the finger marks spoil the looks. GLWTS
  12. Welcome Richard As Jack says, you probably won't lose money on a £10 amp but there is so much good gear available for not a lot nowadays that it's worth seeing what else is available. Top marks to @pst62 for the offer of a freebie - that amp will keep you going for a while. A useful piece of advice we should offer to all new members - stay away from the marketplace!! When I joined I had three basses which pretty much covered all my needs. I have significantly more now and have had lots and lots of gear pass through my hands in the time. In this I am not alone. Beware!! 😉😉
  13. Just like to thank Rob ( @rwillett ) for coming to my rescue. Frustration averted - He's lifted a huge weight off my shoulders . Thanks again Rob..
  14. Monkey Man - The Specials ( I'm sure somebody else must have done it first though)
  15. Rob...great guy... I spent a frustrating afternoon trying to 3D design a pickup surround without success and got stressed out in the process. I posted a thread about this and within 10 minutes Rob had sent me a PM with a basic design saying he could refine my design in 10 minutes and have the items printed in just over an hour. Time and materials may not be a lot but the weight he lifted off my shoulders was immense. I really can not thank him enough. Rob, I am indebted to you - if there is anything I can do to balance the scales just let me know. You are a proper, "don't make 'em like this anymore" gentleman. My thanks again, sir. Before and after:
  16. I need to make a pair of pickup rings so drew up the design on Paint 3D - I can't create a void in 3D - it's driving me mental getting nowhere. It's essentially 2mm thick frame. I bet it's easy for those who know... Can anybody help? Anybody have access to a 3D printer?
  17. The leather for the scratch plate arrived earlier. A trip to the Craft shop in the pipeline. I'll be looking for something to glue the leather to.
