  1. Fog on the Thai,n - Paul Gascoine
  2. Sadly, despite the reasons given, much of this "throwaway " gear will be working perfectly when all the Class D Amps we're currently using have given up the ghost and died and we'll all be reminiscing about how reliable it all was. As mentioned above, the best tone I can recall revolved around a TE (admittedly with Vanderkley cab). I have 5 stashed away.
  3. Life in Tokyo - Japan
  4. I used Lemon oil on the '51 assembly I did a few months ago and it brought the grain out really nicely. I was thinking about doing the same. I'm not after a gloss finish so hoping that will have the desired effect.
  5. So did you make a mistake? TBH I did like that ACG
  6. Wreck a buddy - Soul Sisters
  7. I used to have one of these. I'd forgotten... GLWTS
  8. These are perfect - how do you improve on that? 🤔🤔
  9. Got the sanding done down to 1000 grit - not sure yet whether it needs more work. Letting the body dry before making any decisions. Possible that the first coat of oil goes on this afternoon. Dogs need to go out first.
  10. Optical illusion. When I was younger we used to have to pay shady people a fiver to experience those. 🤭🤫
  11. Many thanks again to Rob for his design work and execution as well as the relief from the frustration of trying to do this myself.
  12. ...and with them. Make the world of difference.
  13. So the surrounds that Rob designed and built for me arrived this morning. Simplicity is an amazing design and these fit the pickups and design perfectly. The surrounds and the bass without them.
  14. Road to nowhere - Talking Heads
  15. Working for the Yankee Dollar - The Skids
  16. Looks a tiny little bit like a Ritter don't you think.
  17. Lovely little basses. I sneak a secret look whenever I'm on the Bass Direct website.
  18. Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
  19. Firstly I believe that there are very few bad basses on sale currently. The standard of construction and quality control is a class above what was available when you were 17. Secondly the Sire was designed around Marcus Miller and he insisted on quality. There's a video somewhere that you might want to watch. There's also that "honeymoon period " that goes with buying a new bass - it always feels better than what you already have. Enjoy your new toys!!
  20. Handsworth Revolution - Steel Pulse
  21. Whichever bass you take you need to impress with how you play not what you walked through the door with. Take which ever you feel most comfortable with on the day and don't worry till then.
  22. I think that I recently put a bass in the spare one I have (with Overwater logo). Great cases but not the best for stacking. Should have sold by now bump.
  23. Stuck in the middle with you - Stealers Wheel
  24. Was any of this connected to the 5 ads for cheap holiday stuff yesterday? They looked really suspicious.
