I was chatting with @Machines earlier about scoring a bargain. We both had - though his was the better score, I'd say. I tend to use eBay, Gumtree, Preloved, Cash Converters, Cash Generators and Reverb. Only recently started using FB - check these out regularly and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for - people are skint at the moment so liquidating their assets. Keep looking there is something out there for you.

I find this quote inspirational on many levels - it has helped me when I have been struggling with my bass playing too. Another inspirational quote I find, and I was tempted to add it to some of the posts above to help novices. "YET!!"

Feels like there's some support for this. What is the next step to actually getting the money to @Dood? Questions though. What if we all chip in and raise the required funds. How much are we talking about? Are we "buying" the bass from Dan and leaving it with him on permanent loan? Could Dan still sell the bass in the future or does the Shuker then belong to the BC collective and can't be sold - a sort of trust? I want to clarify otherwise we're just lending/ giving Dan money.

There are a number of basses I've always thought would look better headless and have held out trying to find one with a broken headstock. Well now it's happened - 1981 Aria Pro SB1000 - a la John Taylor of Duran Duran - but I've been moving away from 4 string basses so I'm torn - do you/ don't you?? It's cheap currently but postage from France is silly - would still reasonably priced if the electronics hadn't been scavenged. Also it's red - I try to avoid red basses. If it had been green...
