Are you asking about a bass or pickup configuration? I find both Precision and Jazz pickups to be lacking yet a PJ compliment the other. That would be my recommendation - however I wouldn't discount a Humbucker with a P pup. You'll go round in circles with various permutations till it drives you mad - there probably is no "ideal" that suits everybody. The solution might be to go for the SimS system - each pickup can be set as H,P or J. Get a pair and you have 15 permutations. At £225 each they're not an inexpensive but I don't think you'll find many disappointed customers. I have them in my Silk Bass and would recommend them. https://www.sims.guitars/pickups/super-quad Fitted as standard in Enfield basses: If you plan to keep the bass then it'll be money well spent. Like most things, you'll probably lose money if/ when you sell. If you're near Herts contact me for a trial of my Silk Bass.

...an accumulation of parts which I hope to put together. Some of you may have noticed I've been trying to acquire some parts. I've managed to find a slab body with a nicely figured top and a Tele bass neck. Nice natural tones so I've been looking for some gold tuners and bridge. Hoping to get some cream/ tan pickup covers. Here are some of the parts I've accumulated so far.

Looks really early. I would guess that it's been painted at some point in it's life - Jon would never have let a bass with that amount of orange peel in the finish leave the factory. Now we're all watching it I think that we can expect the price to soar.

The trades thread makes it clear: However items are often advertised of little value which many of us may have, unwanted, in our parts drawer. Rather than pay money for such items why not buy or trade them a set of strings, etc - e.g. I want a standard Fender BBT style bridge - everybody has at least one - low value item - "you can have it for free" - to balance the Karma scales I'd prefer to trade them a set of strings, a gig bag (I must have at least 5 I don't use) or something similar. The forum rules exclude such transactions though. I have loads of parts which somebody could use for a build. I want some parts for a new project - I can't reduce my parts drawer, instead I need to part with cash for parts that somebody else doesn't necessarily need/want but can't bring themselves to part with because "somebody's bound to want it at some point". To me, it doesn't make sense to acquire more parts using my hard earned when somebody here has that item which they won't miss. Only takes an amendment to the Recycling and Items Wanted rules and we can turn items we don't want into items we do.

Everybody!!! Those you've listed and Management companies, members of other band you'd like to tour with, venues, studios, in fact anybody who might have contact with other musicians. Emails cost nothing!! Also try bands who are going on tour shortly to see if there is an opening for a support band.

Watching the "for sale" ads I can see that there are many of us who are downsizing or clearing out gear which we aren't using. I, for one, have far too much gear but that doesn't stop me from acquiring more. I also note that at the moment many members are selling to fund other purchases because seemingly money is tight. Between us all we must have enough parts for several builds which would be more cost effective if we could trade x for y in the marketplace. I'm looking for a gold bridge and gold tuners but have a chrome high mass Fender bridge and numerous chrome tuners that I would trade and others might want. Same with pedals which I'm sure are on peoples GAS list. I know that money is tight - the news tells me so - why can't we go back to the good old days where we could barter two fish for half a sheep? I'm putting this out there to gauge whether there would be any interest in adding a "Swap/Trade" option to the Marketplace.
