  1. I've found that sometimes corporate incompetence can work in the customer's favour. My brother complained to NTL when they had the TV contract (before Virgin got the contract). To reimburse him for their error they gave him all the channels, including the film and the porn channels, supposedly for a month. They never turned this compensation off. I think he had this till Virgin took over. Amazingly incompetent ...
  2. Members of our local dog walkers WhatsApp group are making their own liver cake for the dogs. I wonder how that would sound?? Tasty??
  3. I think there's a GK 4x10 on ebay currently.
  4. I've got three different dual cases but TBH they rarely leave my home. Carrying two basses in one case is a bit more tiring than you might imagine.
  5. Not convinced that modern bridge works visually with the vintage style look of the bass either.
  6. I love these discussions. People using science to argue their point when in the real world very few people, even musicians, can tell any difference. Pretty sure Joe Average can't. Anybody who has attended a Bass Bash and participated in any of the various tests will know that most people can't even identify their own basses, never mind fretboard material, active/ passive, cheap or expensive. If the OP is looking for a lightweight timber, can I suggest that you keep your advice to that topic.
  7. My recently acquired BB605 is very similar to my BBG5S - not really sure how they differ TBH. I'm sure that @AndyTravis does.
  8. I'm not a Rick fanboi but I like the look of that. Black hardware really works.
  9. I was talking to my amp tech about valve availability recently. He doesn't rate the Chinese replacements but availability of the superior Russian valves has stopped due to the conflict. You may need to hope that back stock is available from places like Bass Direct.
  10. Great basses - there was somebody looking for one of these on Gumtree a few weeks ago - no idea if they found one.
  11. Many years ago I had a Fender AE - hollow body P basically. Not sure if Fender ever made a Jazz version but if your budget was bigger it wouldn't be beyond @Andyjr1515. Alternatively you could get a Jazz body and have it chambered.
  12. I agree how G&Ls punch much higher than their price point. I'm on my fourth - should never have sold any of the others. A lot of bass for your money - you would have loved one of these as your first bass - still great basses as your 51st.
  13. You've been making good progress with this. Looking good too.
  14. I'm in a bit of a "predicament". I have 5 five string basses in my rack - three Yamahas (BBG5S, TRB1005, BB605), the Dimension and the G&L - plus a couple tucked away. All very good basses but they do step on each others toes tonally - they do overlap. Realistically I don't need them all (should that matter?) but which could go? First thoughts - the Squier Dimension could - single pick up - most of the others cover the tonal palette - but it's such a good bass. Nice neck, well balanced, great tones and would embarrass a lot of the Musicman range. The G&L and TRB both punch well above their price point so would be silly to move either on and the BBG5s and BB605 are so similar in many ways - do I need them both? Possibly not but, again, it would be silly to part with either as they're such good basses and cost not a lot. Should also take into consideration I'm not gigging/ in a band currently - I can only play one at a time, even on rotation. No room to store them under my bed (too many 4s under there). What should I do?? (BTW anybody who says sell them and keep one will be sent to bed early without any Tea!!) First world problems, eh??
