  1. I had one with what I thought was a bowed neck - just needed the truss rod adjusted - sounded amazing.
  2. I suffer with arthritis - so much so that I had to cut back on the amount I practiced over the winter. There's a whole thread on potential "cures" but the consensus was live with it while you can, it's inevitable that you will have to give up playing at some point.
  3. I tend to think that prices here are "artificially" lower than the market place. How many times are basses reduced before they sell? There are members selling some really nice basses currently ( @bagsieblue and @basspirate spring to mind), asking fair prices and not getting a sniff. It sometimes feels like you can't get a fair price here but there are some real bargains to be had (check the Quilter cab @BCH has been trying to sell for ages) and they still don't sell! I often see items for sale here which are also on eBay and Gumtree. People hedging their bets or frustrated BCers?
  4. Me too. After all Leo said they're the best bass he ever built and I agree
  5. I got it in a trade with Nick - my Wal went to Nick in exchange for this and the green Overwater. Apparently whoever commissioned the bass gave John a picture of MK playing his pink Jaydee and said he wanted it that colour. John painted it the "right" colour only for the buyer to say he wanted it the colour in the picture. John had to mix a custom colour. Nick also introduced me to George Anderson at the LBGS - " you know George " - awestruck - what a really nice fella.
  6. I "stole" a G&L today - L2500 for practically nothing. Considering that Leo said these are the best basses he ever built it's surprising that they don't hold their value better. Great for buyers - not so much for sellers. Somebody should snap this up before everyone else gets wise to what a bargain it is.
  7. That's the one. My maiden bid was enough to steal it. Berkhampstead isn't too far but the girl in my phone took me right round the houses.
  8. Ooops - I did it again. A G&L L2500 came up locally at a good price - maiden bid and I stole it. We getting to that stage again where I have "too many basses". What am I going to do??
  9. Yes...I've deleted all the photos I had of it. Nice looking Bass, don't you think?
  10. Enough cheesy gags!! Looking in the window of Love - Alison Moyet
  11. What music do you like? Chances are the bass player is pretty good - there's your starting point.
  12. I had a query about a power supply for a newly acquired pedal. Flo sent me a message in minutes with advice and a link to where I could get one. No money exchanged but a very helpful fella. Many thanks...
  13. Stupid is as stupid does... I've had two - very good basses even though they have no tone knob - becomes intuitive really quickly. Tempted - even though I probably won't use it.
  14. Just spoke to the seller, Joe again. I said that, after doing some further investigation I thought that the agreed price might have been a bit high. He had said that he had agreed to sell to an American buyer for $1800 but there were issues with the money going through. Buyer going to the bank tomorrow to deal with this. We agreed that he should proceed with the sale to the buyer in USA for the better price which would give me time to think about my offer. Speaking to him again on Friday.
  15. Just bought it!!! Didn't want to...but had to.
  16. Imagine if you built a body from one of the planks. Nobody would ever care.
