  1. For cynical b'stards like me, it's good to see that there are still good people in the world. Hope that the build goes well...🙏
  2. It would be against the rules to post this in the weird and wonderful thread (not from ebay) and I couldn’t find what was the "Jap crap" thread so having to start a new one. Seller has a number of doubtful items which you probably wouldn't want. This is possibly the pick of his collection. A Maya Rick copy which he acknowledges has been played with. Not cheap... Please view this ad: Rickenbacker Bass Maya Japan 70s, https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/rickenbacker-bass-maya-japan-70s/1442961142 Price: £ 850
  3. Looks like somebody used up all the bits in their parts box
  4. I have a Caline PS which I rarely use but wouldn't part with. I think I paid a tenner.
  5. You'd think that after a while you've seen most everything - never seen one of these before. At £100 (currently) it would be a steal but I expect the price to go through the ceiling. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185595584295?mkevt=1&mkpid=2&emsid=e90001.m2368.l2649&plmtId=700009&mesgId=3041&mkcid=8&ch=osgood&bu=43851974399&trkId=355825b6-7429-45f5-a668-3cf236bd9335&cnvId=700003&recoId=185595584295&recoPos=1
  6. Everybody should have at least one "real " Trace Elliot....and I don't mean an Elf!!
  7. The head's name is confusing. It's 450watts - the 2x10W refers to the 2x10 drivers in a wedge cab.
  8. Can confirm that this is a monster cab. The ergonomics and design are well ahead of anything else out there. Loads of interest in the heads, no idea why this wasn't snapped up ages ago. One of the best cabs on sale here for sure. Far too cheap IMO.
  9. I sold one of these recently. Amazing Amps...if you don't need to move them they're everything you could ever want. I maintain that gear hasn't got better...it's just got lighter. GLWTS
  10. I have the same issue with my Yamaha TRB 5ii ...I'm using reflective tape on the top edge on the fret line. Not ideal but it'll have to do till I can fund a visit to my local luthier. Beautiful bass, hope you don't regret selling.
  11. Just learned about the connection between sound and science. Lots of video footage on the subject.
  12. My first few ventures into 5ers resulted in playing lots of bum notes with my right hand. Affected my confidence so they all got moved on. It wasn't till I started playing with a floating thumb technique that I overcame the problem. Lots of videos on YT but Scott Devine and Mark Smith both have videos on their sites.
  13. I tend to push them up - gives a phatter tone
  14. If you want to save a few Bob on the tapewounds contact Dawn at Status basses to see what she has in short scale. IIRC they were under £20 for the set. Alternatively think about these: https://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_bass_string_set_040_.100.htm?glp=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsrWZBhC4ARIsAGGUJurjJNjf06hgyTp-YXbLQzx4joPFPW2T8fNuLD47AsNXoa0x95cjdMIaAurOEALw_wcB I have these on a couple of basses...Great quality.
  15. That spalted timber looks amazing. Hard decision...
  16. Found this KAWAI FIIB cONTROLS Front Pickup Tone (Passive) Output Jack -Front Pickup Volume Pickup Selector Down position selects rear pickup Up position selects front pickup Center position selects both pickups Rear Pickup Volume Rear Pickup Tone (Passive) Rear Pickup Tone Character Front Pickup Tone Character In the center position the pickup EQ is flat. The up and down positions provide different combinations of EQ "cuf' and "boost to change the tonal character of the pickups. The cut/boost combinations are pre-set and cannot be changed as the tone character pre-amps are sealed in the pickups. While both the front and rear FlIB pickups and tone character pre-amps are the same, they will sound different because of their position under the strings. This is an Active EQ System and requires Kawai-FIIB-Bass-Guitar-Controls.pdf
  17. I really like these (isn't there one for sale here currently??) Waiting for them to come down in price to grab one at bargain basement price.
  18. Other Brightonians? @hen barn and @philw..... is somebody running a breeding programme down there?? Welcome
  19. I found one elsewhere before seeing this here - arrived this morning and despite the bad back, courtesy of the dogs, I had to try it out. I'd forgotten how phat and punchy these are, amazing tone for finger style and slapping, superb necks and balance. Just fantastic basses. I can see a really satisfied buyer and one seller with sack loads of remorse when this sells. Go on, you know you want it.
  20. Don't some airlines allow under 5s to travel free? Tell them your bass is under 5 years old.
  21. Get to the rehearsal, start tuning, finish tuning, go home as the rehearsal is over.
  22. ...and made in the UK to Ashdown's exacting standards. Remember if it ever goes wrong they'll repair it for next to nothing( bear in mind that they are members here too)
  23. "Sensible"??? Surely that doesn't feature when it comes to buying basses...
  24. On my Psilos bass we used the Warwick strap locks that fit inside the body. No need to clash with the beautiful wood.
