  1. If you don't think the poster is a control freak you've missed something.
  2. I think the reason I like the BBNE is because it has similarities with Spectors.
  3. I posted the original link - for a few days I was undecided whether or not to go for it, eventually dallying too long. If it had been a 5er I would have dived straight in. I'm glad that somebody here bought it.
  4. Seller hasn't contributed for nearly 3 years. Fair to say he won't see your post.
  5. Wish I'd got £1500-£2500 when I sold mine....
  6. I took an Oakfield aluminium flight case in part ex a while back - really didn't need it. So now I have a superfluous flight case, foam cut for a 'Ray (which I don't have) that's taking up space. Thankfully, despite her efforts, Thea can't do it any damage.
  7. Half tempted to place a bid but TBH it wouldn't get used. This, according to the ad, is one of 60 which Mike had built in Japan. Looks clean enough. Currently £175 but has 6 days to run. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234296431363?hash=item368d27d303:g:4~EAAOSwScxhmPzV "Hi, The bass looks in great condition. I only had 60 of these basses made, they were made by Nanyo Boeki, the same company who made the "Bass Collection" basses sold by Barry at the Bass centre in Wapping London. They came in master cartons of 30 basses (so two master cartons) The E.Q. was designed by John East of J.retro fame, and was made by John in Oxford. These E.Q.'s were fitted to the basses back in my Essex workshop along with pickups, strings and final setup."
  8. I know that I'm not alone in wishing that I had a spare £2200. GLWTS (or me being lucky enough to win the Lottery)
  9. I don't think I've heard of any method of cleaning strings that make any significant distance to their lifespan. Boiling strings give a few hours at best. IIRC Marlowe DK made a video RE: letting the strings off and slapping them to death which cleaned a lot of the gunk out but again the gain was limited. I think you just need to accept that (roundwound) strings have a limited life after which you need to buy others. Flatwounds have a much longer life, Tapes longer still.
  10. I have several spaces like that...I often "tidy them up"...it becomes part of a routine.
  11. Good to hear people bigging up the good guys....
  12. Keanu Reeves is the short fella from Top Gear??? Are you sure?? 🤔🤔
  13. Interesting video on where the production money is spent and whether you can justify the extra money.
  14. If I didn't know better I would say that the black material is inside the neck...
  15. No matter what you say, it's still better than 90% of Mr Phillips' creations...
  16. Joe, I'd keep your whereabouts quiet..... You may find many strangers lurking outside your home the day you collect the bass... It's lovely!!
  17. I looked.... You're going to be either the most or least popular member on this forum based on whether or not members have a spare £350. As mentioned, many times, a lot of bass for the bucks.
  18. Love what he's doing from 1:30 onwards....going to steal borrow this technique.
  19. I've made a conscious effort to avoid Fender - mainly due to the build quality and quality control of the stuff they were churning out when I first started playing in the early/mid 80s. Doesn't mean that I haven't become a fanboi though - big fan of Trace Elliot who at the same time were building world beating amps that were top of most bassists' shopping lists. Bass wise I'm finding that most modern basses are such high quality compared to vintage basses that I fall in love with nearly everything I try - G&L, Spector, Lakland, Yamaha - add your own modern favourite.
  20. I really liked my SB2 though the lack of bass/treble is a bit weird at first. Not an issue after an hour or so. If you can find an M2000 that'd be my choice.
  21. You'll need a couple of washers or a truss rod nut with a bit more thread. If you look in the builds thread @Andyjr1515 has just done a similar thing to a BC member's bass... I'm surprised your Luthier didn't have the solution.
