  1. Not a Warwick fan but definitely a fan of dogs.. Hope that they get better. GLWTS
  2. The answer may be to get your a body and have one of the many able luthiers/ builders here to chamber it for you.
  3. I'm thinking that there will more posts to this effect as time goes by.
  4. They don't - once I got used to mine it seems so obvious. Made me question why any bass needs a tone control.
  5. I have one of the original 1x10 which were normally sold with the BLX combos. No idea what it weighs but it sure kicks asss for a 10" cab...
  6. I have a Squier Standard PJ - you can pick them up for around £150 - like B5 I was surprised how good a bass it is for such little money. There are lots of basses for not much currently that deserve more recognition - this is one of them.

  8. I was thinking about one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282351153083?hash=item41bd70afbb:g:7CoAAOSwZQRYb8OQ IIRC @Dood did a video for it.
  9. Shipping costs are the price of a nice bass..
  10. Welcome back, Kev Hope that everything is resolved and you're ready to dive back in.
  11. Secretly a fan - George used to have an amazing voice. As you say, great rhythm section.
  12. This'll divide opinion... Jagger / Richards
  13. Question for the OP: Clearly not the original bridge and the replacement seems to have been move behind the original position - is the intonation right??
  14. Hope that nobody from Uni of Herts is reading this post...they'll be offering degrees in gluing to go with the other bulllshit degrees they already offer.
  15. Paul Kossoff's parents actually lived in Hatfield. However his dad, David Kossoff, died in 2005 so any hope of getting any info from the family is unlikely, to say the least. I can spend that money many times over....
  16. Further correspondence with Yamaha CS (quick and reliable) I'm advised that the thread on the replacement is much longer/ deeper. Change the nut yesterday, obviously the neck relaxed, tightened it to close to straight. Leaving it for a couple of days to settle.
  17. After careful consideration I have decided NOT to follow up on this. Phil, the shop manager, states that the seller to him stated that he had got it from Paul Kossoff whose uncle lived next door. Paul apparently bought it back from Japan during the 70s. Phil is clear that he can not prove any provenance and (I looked) there are no Google images of him with the bass. Remember Paul was NOT a bass player so I also checked any connection to Andy Fraser - couldn't find anything. I also sent a query to Free's management company - no response at the time of writing. Hi Mick, Thanks for your e-mail. To confirm the customer who sold it to me said his uncle had received it as a gift from Paul Kossoff, who was a neighbour at his address in Hampstead. It does sound plausible, but I cannot prove it. Apparently the pickup was replaced by the customer's uncle years ago and we replaced the very badly broken scratchplate (half of it was missing) by making a new one to fit. The overall condition of the bass is very good and presentable. The machine heads, neck plate, bridge and bridge cover are original (the cover is often missing) and the paintwork is in very good order, with no major dings or knocks. The frets are in good condition too. You would be hard pressed to find another one here in the UK and I think very lucky to find a scratch plate and pickup for it. You might be able to source them from Japan perhaps. Personally, I think the bass is just fine as it is. The pickup is good and vintage looking, it gives a nice tone and the bass plays very well indeed. I have had quite a lot of interest in this bass and I have received an alternative offer of £800 so far, but I think it's worth a bit more than that. I play guitar usually, but I own three bass guitars, mostly used for recording - many guitarists I know play and own a bass too. I'd be interested to hear if it did feature in any recordings, performances etc, but if I had to hazard a guess, if it did belong to him, he probably just had it has a quirky curio. 18. Sold John a Compressor/ distortion pedal - swift payment, good correspondence, an all together problem free transaction - just how we like it. Happy to trade again.
  19. There also a 424 for an extra £25 https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-bb-424-bass-guitar/1412109629
