My Sire 3 5er weighed more than 10LB - hired an HGV to move it when I traded it.

I use a circuit breaker - also use it at home. Same as this: https://www.screwfix.com/p/masterplug-13a-fused-plug-through-active-rcd-adaptor/63731?tc=OA7&ds_kid=92700055281954484&ds_rl=1249401&gclid=CjwKCAjw3riIBhAwEiwAzD3TibvJqSWpV_U9XJQHvJWCVFNaoXazJhJ9SmWbsKIDts18-NItn8X8zhoCW-oQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I like the limited palette of materials....sometimes less is more.

Have you spoken to Alan at ACG?

False alarm - been playing it (with metal strings - yuck) for the past few days - The truss rod was way over tightened - there was no need for it to be as tight as it was. The neck is now perfectly straight and the action lowered - plays really nice. Still waiting for the Yamaha parts to arrive - somebody on annual leave - how dare they!! Adding a couple of washers will no doubt completely alleviate it ever being over tightened again (by me anyway).

I don't get these - each or the horns look like they were designed by 4 different committees

You know that you spelt "white" wrong don't you??

I thought that basses over 9.5 LBs were unusable???

I went looking for the weight. Full Description Professional Tone, as Standard Gallien Krueger are all about tone. Every inch of their cabinet design is built to provide the best possible sound. From top the bottom, GK cabs offer the professional standard in bass guitar amplification. The Special Neo driver features a 2.5” edge wound aluminium voice coil and have been crafted specifically for this cabinet. That’s why the custom built 300w 12” driver gives you that booming sound at no detriment to tone. No matter what you play, be it funk, rock, metal, or jazz. The competency of the 112’s design, the quality of its craftsmanship, and its Gallien Krueger heritage means that nothing comes close. This is precision perfected. Braced for Impact The Neo 112 features internal bracing that is intricately designed to prevent any sound leakage. This is can be deadly in killing your tone and the internal design of this powerful bass cab is built to resist this. Maintain the impact of every note with the complex construction. The porting is tuned to perfection to provide the best performance possible and keep the tone at an optimal level of clarity and depth. It’s not just the speakers that make a cabinet great – its internal architecture must be designed to the highest standard. Built for the Road Gallien Krueger are known for creating great looking and incredibly tough cabinets. They know that the professional musician is often on the road for weeks at a time and needs to be assured their equipment will last the journey. This informs every design decision they make – resulting in tough, great sounding amplifier cabinets. The Neo cabinet is built from a lightweight but tough plywood construction and is covered with a rugged vinyl covering. Gallien Krueger is all about top class tone, but without a solid construction, that incredible tone is put at risk from the dangers of road. Gallien Krueger’s design ensures complete safety. Specifications: Impedance: 8 ohms Power Handling (RMS): 300W Power Handling (Peak): 600W Sensitivity: 98 dB Maximum SPL: 122 dB Frequency Resp (-3dB): 51 Hz - 19 kHz Woofers (Neodymium): 300W 8 ohm Horn (P-Audio): 25W 8 ohm Porting: Front-Ported Key Features Incredible Gallien Krueger sound to bolster your bass performances Rugged construction protects the GK Neo during the toughest parts of gigging life Neodymium drivers power the deep tone possible from Neo's speakers The professional standard in bass playing - stand above the rest with clean and defined tone Gallien Krueger NEO 112 II 8ohm Bass Cab Overview Pure GK power in a compact and stackable format. The Gallien Krueger NEO 112 II 8ohm Bass Cab is a tiny amp cab that is perfect stacking. It's light weight and the ideal amp for rehearsal, studio, and stage. Despite its small stature, the Neo 112 packs a powerful punch but keeps the tone tight and consistent even at massive volume. As a serious bass player, you know how important good tone is - at any volume, in any environment. It's good news then that the Neodymium driver is renowned for its sound quality. It's portable and powerful and won't let you down. About the only info I didn't find.

Morning @Puzzler No idea why you think this. When we all started we were as bad as you - even the top pros. If you're committed you'll make great progress - signing up to TalkingBass is a good start. Mark is a great tutor - and remember "Practice makes perfect".

SGC Nanyo Bass Collection MIJ SB300 - With A Few Issues.....

I often ask myself the same question. I now have a Performer 5er which plays and sounds amazing - even though they retail for less than £500.
-
Can I suggest instead of temporary spacers, adding a 2mm strip either side of the neck before using a plane to bring the neck to the desired dimensions. A more permanent solution.

Agree....we all live and learn.

I looked the other days - there are some nice ones on there.
-
I had a fretless way back when. Fitted with the "Select" pick ups - totally gutless. I side-lined my Westone Thunder 1A to use it - plugged the Westone in one day as a comparison and realised it was far, far better. I've often considered getting another, fitting new wings so it doesn't look like a cricket bat and new pick ups. Thankfully I've spent my money elsewhere.

On first reading I thought you meant the basses - I'm assuming now you mean the 'plates.

Ooops...it isn't. 5er body, 4 string neck

This may be the neck. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154529383079?_trkparms=aid%3D1110010%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.DISCCARDS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D233198%26meid%3Dbc882477fe74493491a7fa041eaa33db%26pid%3D101110%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D203549575931%26itm%3D154529383079%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2563228%26algv%3DDiscOrganicBase%26brand%3DGodin&_trksid=p2563228.c101110.m1982
