  1. Probably the most unexpected must have been Bowie and Bing Crosby on "Little Drummer Boy".
  2. Nice...I like the limited colour palette - everything matches. Hope it sounds as good as it looks.
  3. I wouldn't have an issue with that "blemish". In fact, if the bass were ever stolen you'd be able to identify it from that.
  4. If you're convinced that you need a bass with a smaller neck check out the two Bass Collection Nanyos in the Basses for sale thread. The black one at £165 is an absolute steal. You'd pay an extra £100 from ebay.
  5. It's a beauty...if you need somewhere to leave it..
  6. I find "fake encores" tedious. We saw Hayseed Dixie who made it clear that they wouldn't be doing an encore, rather they would play the tunes the punters had paid to hear/ see in the time allocated. Found this refreshing. Get rid!!!
  7. I thought this was the natural finish (added coloured excepted) - have Spector created this patternation??
  8. Martin was for sale on eBay?? Bargain!! Martin built the (invisible) custom pick ups on my Psilos bass - tones absolutely suit the build and for custom pups were very well priced. Would recommend them/him to anybody.
  9. I love the quote from the father in "My big fat Greek wedding" when asked if it was OK to disagree with him. Paraphrased: "Of course not, as long as you don't mind being wrong".
  10. I used this: https://www.famousbirthdays.com/ Lots of "Internet stars"... Nick Smith ( @doctor_of_the_bass) Stan Lee (Marvel Comics)
  11. Ma, he's making eyes at me - Lena Zavaroni
  12. Nonsense...all Bass players need professional support groups... please don't discriminate...😉😉
  13. I played 4 string bass for over 20 years before changing to 5 strings and needed to change my technique when I did. Your progress may be better if you adopt "The floating thumb" technique on your plucking hand - lots of videos on YT. Another stumbling block for newbies is how you position your thumb on your fretting hand. Pointing your thumb UP the neck rather than ACROSS on a fiver certainly helped me.
  14. Little things mean the most - Kitty Kallen (AXA tv advert)
  15. Though I've never tried to emulate him. Mick Karn was definitely a huge influence. I remember at the time nobody was playing like him - had a style of his own and played outside the mainstream.
