  1. Doing it after dark - Carlos Berrios
  2. Aren't we all?
  3. When I started playing your choices were Dean Markleys or Ernie Balls... It seems that loads of people use the EBs, I don't know anybody who uses DMs - and I can't find a reason why...
  4. I used to use the Olympia Roundwounds back in the day without complaint. The flats are less than £20 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332486029353?epid=15045844741&hash=item4d69b63029:g:Px0AAOSwr5db7W6d
  5. Long Time gone - Galliano
  6. I was thinking about @Old Horse Murphy's beautiful green Charvel but it's a PJ. I have a Squire Standard PJ - MII - a lot of bass for not much - as suggested, swap the P for a J and get a new scratchplate.
  7. I recently traded a Ray SUB 5er (out) for a Yamaha BBG5S (in) - I definitely think I got the better end of the deal. I was prepared to trade either of the two basses in the title. The fella I traded with was happy with the SUB but contacted me earlier to say he'd tried a Sire V2 and was impressed - asked whether I was prepared to trade for the Sire. The Sire impresses me with the range in the preamp - lots of tonal range but TBH the neck dive stops me from enjoying playing it. The SUB plays much better but is a bit "Meh" tonally. Realistically I wouldn't play either - I love the Yamaha and Lakland 55-01 5ers that I have. Both the SUB and the Sire are in top condition so that isn't a factor. Given a choice between the two which would you have?
  8. Is this well priced? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203312744211?hash=item2f56624713:g:3kgAAOSwzRdgV61n
  9. Last Xmas - Wham!
  10. I've placed an order for a set of Warwick 40-100 Tapewounds plus a single .120 to make the 5 set from Thomann. Out of stock currently but I'm advised next week. The Tapewounds on my Yamaha have added volume and tone to what was already an amazing bass. Highly recommended!!
  11. Diamonds are forever - Shirley Bassey (notice it's not Guitar-ey)
  12. On my wish list but I'll wait for a used one to come up...
  13. Feeling hot hot hot - Arrow
  14. I have one so hopefully it will last longer than this year...
  15. I use the lightest gauge I can. Recently fitted a 5 string set of Tapewounds (40-120) to my Yamaha BBG5S and they're amazing. Most of my 4 strings wear either 35 or 40 -100 gauge strings - I don't notice any loss of tone but (believe I) can feel the benefit of lighter strings.
  16. Good.... What I don't get is how I keep getting spam emails without trying. Where is the place to leave somebody's details so they get tons of them?
  17. She's out of my life - Michael Jackson
  18. Sounds a bit too controlling if you ask me..😉😉
  19. Clearly a man of few words...
  20. 8astard!! Hope you're able to get your money back
  21. Classic case of Alien Intervention - are you sure that you weren't probed and don't remember?
  22. I think my taste is quite diverse - bit of Classical, Jazz, Standards, R'n'R, Soul, Funk, Reggae... Just about anything really that doesn't have screaming, distorted guitars.
  23. 5-4-3-2-1- Manfred Man
  24. I should be so lucky - Kylie Minogue
  25. I'd think about a PJ set up. You get the benefit of keeping the P which you're happy with, plus the addition of a J pup to refine/ enhance the tonal package. Lots of companies making PJs so you're spoilt for choice.
