  1. Love the one I have - you know what great basses they are. I came across the ad while looking for something else - just wondering if it sold. Seller hasn't been here since February though.
  2. Did this sell?
  3. TE and Genz Benz are more examples of good companies being plopped on from a great height. I bet the list is far more extensive than those I know.
  4. I'm led to believe that she also has a flat above the Arsenal ground. Apparently a keen Arsenal fan.
  5. No!! I was at the LBGS where there was a "Noise War" going on between Eden and Aguilar - IMO the Eden sounded streets ahead of the Agi. I don't understand why companies buy up smaller companies just to kill them off. I supposed there must be an economical reason but, please, don't educate me on this - it's just wrong!
  6. I think I've heard the Sparks album - my mate Brad had it. I've heard Hawklords too...
  7. I don't think I've listened to any of those albums...maybe this generation (me?) might appreciate them.
  8. Venus in Blue jeans - Jimmy Clanton
  9. Starting a "thing" with some local musicians. We're thinking of doing a phat version of this.
  10. Guns of Brixton - The Clash
  11. Hopefully you can forget the nightmare when it finally arrives. When I ordered my Veillette Citron from the USA HMRC were sending it to and fro between two UK locations for about a week, then Royal Mail added their standing charge and delayed delivery further. I was raging but have been able to put this behind me now (he says).
  12. Another lovely Overwater - I was far too precious with mine. Sold it, bought it back, sold it again. Great tonal package, perfectly weighted/balanced and played exquisitely. If this is anything like that somebody will get an absolute bargain (£815). GLWTS
  13. Have tried contacting Speaker manufacturers in the UK. We all know how helpful Ashdown and Barefaced can be...
  14. If he gets the feel I get from my Silk Bass, The Psilos or my Nanyo which you did he'll should be more than happy.. Great work sir.
  15. I already have a set of the Status Hotwire Tapewounds on my Silk Bass but that's the only strings I've ever used on it so I didn't have anything to compare them to, other than knowing they were amazing. I recently moved to 5 string and been playing, pretty much exclusively, my Yamaha BB5GS wearing (red silk) .130 roundwounds which to be fair are a bit tired and grubby (the way it arrived). I've had several 4 string sets of Status Tapewounds lying about for a while waiting to be used. Going through basses as I do, I've been reluctant to fit them to just about anything, however knowing that the strings on the Yamaha really needed to be replaced I contacted Dawn at Status who found me the low B to turn a 4 string set into a 5 string set (40-120). They arrived the following morning and I fitted them earlier to the BB5GS - WOW!! What a difference!! The tone is immense - huge bass and warm, cappuccino mids and highs - I think this is what I've been hearing inside my head when I was looking for that "ideal tonal package". As well as the amazing tone package, comes that super smooth feeling that Tapewounds provide, the Status tension is "just right" - no floppy low B - which seems to be something of contention with similar brands. Remember that (when in stock) Status Tapewounds sell for under £20 and they are known to outlast rounds so from a financial POV they make complete sense. From a tonal perspective those of us seeking phat, soulful tones with a nod to double bass will love these. Highly recommended - bearing in mind that they are Out of Stock at Status. IIRC they were made for Status by Picato so you may still be able to pick up a set from eBay or Amazon.
  16. Loved by many...just short of 2 hours of Sade
  17. I don't he said anything about exclusively... As I often say "everything is nice but more is better".
  18. OMG!!! Just fitted a set of Status tapewounds (40-120) to my BB5GS - man, what a change in tone. Absolutely monster tones - feels like being kicked in the chest by Darth Vader wearing size 14 Doctor Marten boots. Highly recommend to anybody who wants to start a volcanic eruption on the Moon.
  19. Inspired by a couple of existing threads. What (forgotten) albums will future generations re-discover? I'll go... Infected - The The Introducing the Hardline according to Terence Trent-D'arby Stop Making sense - Talking Heads Handsworth Revolution - Steel Pulse
  20. Thriller - Michael Jackson
  21. The girl of my best friend - Elvis
  22. There's a white BB425 on Gumtree https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/mint-yamaha-bb425-5-string-bass/1401509253 Referred to as a "Broad Bass" for £150 https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-5-string-broad-bass-with-fender-gig-bag/1404641594
