    I've been able to find 4 string sets of Tapewounds but not 5 string sets. Really frustrating. I rang Dawn at Status and she was able to dig through some shelves and managed to find me a .40 and 2x .120s which I can use to make the full set with the existing sets of Status Tapewounds I bought a while back.. As always she was polite and really helpful. Many thanks, Dawn. FYI she has no sets, she has very few long scale (but not enough to make a full set) and a few medium scale (fine for 2+2 headstocks)

    Vintage is a brand I see for sale quite a lot but know nothing about. They seem to use exotic materials (as with this) which I would associate with "quality" but they sell for not much. I like the look of them - a nod towards the Nanyos I so love. This looks like a good bass - unfortunately I'm trying to persevere with 5ers and I've been burnt by fretless basses in the bass - I need to leave them alone. I'm sure that this will sell without any problem - GLWTS.

    ...and you have the confidence that if you have any issues with Ashdown gear as it's built in the UK you can get it repaired for, if not free, very little. Ashdown CS is becoming legendary - they have a presence here - @Ashdown Engineering - and the HQ in the South East is accessible via the M25 . Can't go wrong really.

    Currently listening to "Off the Wall" by Michael Jackson. It's been years since I listened to it last and I've realised that it isn't just a collection of very good songs but there are some wicked bass lines in there too.
