  1. I do like the natural finish Sandberg...if it fits the bill, keep it.
  2. I can't stand heavily overdriven guitars with distortion. Reminds me of when I started playing and guitarists would hide behind loads of effects to cover up the fact they weren't very good. If you want to change your tone, that's fine, just make sure that we know you're actually playing a guitar still.
  3. Twist & Crawl - The Beat
  4. Good work Andy. TBH I'd forgotten about this build. I remember being shocked by the lack of material in the neck - surprised that this could get through QC. At least you've managed to save this one.
  5. Knives out - Radiohead
  6. I had one - came up on ebay and snapped it up for about £200 IIRC. There are lots of them about - once you've bought one another two will come up in the following week.
  7. He was an active member for 2 days in 2012...
  8. What I was really looking at was " gear I wouldn't take even if given to me?" For example Encore, even after all these years, seem still to be turning out poorly built, lowly regarded gear which changes hands on Ebay for very little. You'd think the gear would be worth more in parts. H&H amps are still in business I believe - again poorly regarded. I often see basses from John Hornby Skewes selling for not much - I don't know anything about them.
  9. "Seller refurbed" but some nice parts on this natural finish Jazz + Humbucker https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164831794058?hash=item2660bd938a:g:mQIAAOSwvWtgQlOr
  10. Lined de-fret anybody? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194079341040?hash=item2d3007b9f0%3Ag%3Anw4AAOSwy3Rgi8k3&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5337991582&customid=SRP-FOR_SALE&toolid=10049
  11. A bass this nice will have appeal all over the country, not just for those who can get to Bedfordshire during COVID. I reckon there'll be load more interest if you would employ the services of a courier (other than MyHermes).
  12. Reduced price € 790 £820 España By KUSKU, March 5 in Basses For Sale Reply to this topic Start new topic
  13. Aaaah... I think you'd have more takers for the puppy than the bass.....and they're great basses.
  14. Lakland 55-01 Skyline and Squier Standard (black metallic finish)
  15. Lovely...and the right pick up config too... Sooo jealous
  16. Not interested in Ovation/ Applause roundbacks? - very good medium range geeetars with nice acoustic tones.
  17. More photos of the puppy please...
  18. A Mexican Fender would sell for around £300??? I think anything around that is a fair price considering the upgraded pups/ bridge.
  19. I still want to find somebody who makes Black frets - can't believe that they're not available. Dragon's Den anybody?
  20. I'd like to find a M2500. If I look I'll never find one - if I don't, one will come along at a sensible price. You know how it is.
  21. ...and he's just up the road so you can borrow it..🤩
  22. Here's my 55-01 with switched out electronics. My first serious venture into 5ers. Previously any time I tried getting into 5ers I'd be drawn to my 4s..most of them are locked away. These are not only aesthetically pleasing but play fantastic. Great balance, super nice, flat necks and the replacement preamp and pick ups provide a fantastic tonal range. The Skyline models are another of the entry model ranges that deserve more respect. More than happy to recommend them to anyone considering thinking of getting one.
  23. Grave Yard stomp - The Meteors (though I thought it was The Cramps)
  24. We see many, many threads starting with "what's the best..." which then leads to us recommending what WE think is the best item fitting the description. I've often done it. Thankfully today there are very few poor examples of basses, amps, electronics - certainly less than when I started playing back in the 80s. However I'm sure there are brands which continue to churn out less than good equipment - I'd like to hear from the experience of others what I should avoid. Good "for instance" - the Fender Infinity range - they sell for bird seed - yet they bear the Fender name. Why would F allow this if they are "bad" basses? What about the "entry models" for big brands - the real Warwicks are held with great esteem (despite the company's poor CS) yet the Rockbasses seem to be view with disdain. I need more information. Share your experiences?
  25. Had two of these. Misguidedly sold the first when I bought the SB2 (you don't need 2 G&Ls do you) then replaced it after realising you do. Sold the second one when I ventured into the world of 5ers. As I've said many times - you're getting a lot of bass for not many pennies with a G&L. Just need to find a nice 5er tribute.
