  1. As stated in a previous thread, I thought about buying some leather to create a scratchplate. Turned out it got pricey when you take into consideration the tools needed. Still think it's a good idea though. Yours would look amazing with a tan leather plate which matched the fretboard.
  2. She loved like Diamond - Spandau Ballet
  3. Interesting pick up configuration... Got to love Alan's work...
  4. I've had both - can recommend both.... I don't think you'll be disappointed by either.
  5. Hertfordshire-ite
  6. That's right - keep rehearsing that for when you get the short scale bass and have to explain why to your partner. 😏😏
  7. Aldi's do an Orange Oil wipe which is excellent for just this type of thing.
  8. Note that the title of the thread is "Downgrading my TE" rather than "Upgrading"...there is no upgrade!!!
  9. Sandy - John Travolta
  10. Bought some Wilkinson machine heads from Mark. Arrived undamaged despite MyHermes using the package for a 5 a side match. Not Mark's fault (unless he was playing centre forward). 😁 Trade with confidence...
  11. I own a MM 5er - hate the scratchplate.
  12. Back to Black - Amy Wineconsumer
  13. Small Town Girl - Tracey Thorn
  14. I played a headless example at the LBGS - very impressed. I'm sure this will sell quickly.
  15. John Wayne (is Big Leggy) - Haysi Fantazi
  16. I have a couple of Schroeder Mini 10/10L which I would highly recommend. Not sure how many there are in the UK though. http://www.schroedercabinets.com/cabinets.html
  17. As many have said before me, the Sires are incredible VFM but weight seems to vary considerably so try one first. You can pick one up for under £200 - you would have killed for a bass this good for £200 when you started playing. I've always felt Fender basses didn't always live up to expectations but I started playing in the 80s when the build quality at Fender was abysmal. Most of those would have had their issues addressed by now but I can't get past my early bias. My Squier Standard PJ is a lot of bass for your buck and they appear on eBay weekly.
  18. "Better" is always subjective....personally I'm a big TE fan and can't find anything I like more. If you were a youth in the 80s/90s you probably grew up with TE as the voice of your youth. I'd be looking for a good head to pair with some modern lightweight cabs. I think that Vanderkley are a good match.
  19. Currently £280 so it could be much worse.. The ubiquitous scammers' "I don't know..." Please note. I do not know where this guitar was manufactured. Probably far east, the favourite being Korea.
  20. Ship Building - Elvis Costello/ Robert Wyatt
  21. Step it up - Stereo MCs
  22. Yellow Submarine - no idea
  23. Great advice. You keep the tone you're accustomed to and benefit from light weight cabs. VanDerKleys would be my recommendation
