  1. Watching The Detectives - The other Elvis (Costello)
  2. No idea when we'll next see one of these for sale. Thought that somebody might be interested - maybe somebody on the continent? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/60s-AMPEG-BT-140-BASS-AMP-made-in-USA/174653535227?hash=item28aa2973fb:g:WuoAAOSwisRf0Uq2
  3. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Guitar-Handmade/124646648067?hash=item1d0584e903:g:2YYAAOSwqWNgV7CY Check the irony in the sellers username too
  4. I often see a post that I think is clever, well thought out or a bit of lateral thinking but there isn't an emogi to acknowledge that. Could we add there something like this?
  5. For those just browsing, check what else is available for a similar price on this thread. I would hazard that there is little of comparable quality or value for money.
  6. Thanks for the reminder - I'm often tempted by low priced acoustic basses on eBay even though I know I'll hate it. Your reminder just reinforced my resolve against impulse buying one.
  7. What really annoys me is when Geeetards pick up a bass and go through the motions of knocking out really bad slaplines - bad technique, bad tone and bad execution. Geeetards who believe they can play bass just because they know a major scale and just play bits of lead with their thumb should be locked in a soundproof dungeon.
  8. IMO McCartney is one of the bassists that pushed the instrument to another level but probably doesn't get the credit for it. Just play some of his lines to see how modern some of them feel.
  9. Raining in my heart - Buddy Holly (why does nobody talk about him anymore???)
  10. I saw a document about a group of fellas who would go just about anywhere to collect autographs on cheap guitars/ sports memorabilia/ etc so maybe that's it's history. It is Glenn Matlock rather than Sid signing as the bassist.
  11. Nice....I remember seeing it for sale previously. If you don't mind me asking - what are you GASing for?
  12. Seller's username seems familiar... BC member??
  13. Remember that if you use your dog as the arbiter of good taste, they do lick their own genitals. For those who think that they'd like to be able to do that, just use a bit of chicken, I'm sure your dog will let you...
  14. I had a Zoot for a while - very flat neck IIRC. I think that we're spoilt for choice for home grown Basses. I've owned many on the list - loved my GB Rumour - probably one of the best basses I've ever played and Bernie is a pure gentleman. Also had Overwater/ Wal/ Shuker/ Status - all quality instruments which I'd have no hesitation recommending.
  15. Prefer the Paul Anka version TBH.... Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
  16. I would like to see what the consensus (here on BC...🤣😂🤣) is on this track. It's on YT more than once - each have several million hits. Not your "typical" slap.
  17. I posted on another thread about leather pickguards - a la early Wals. The materials are cheap (£5ish) but getting a professional finish is beyond my basic skills and toolbox.
  18. I had a four string in pewter but it was a late model with BBOT bridge instead of the high mass bridges which come as stock on the earlier models.
  19. I've owned both the Fender (above) and a Spectorcore (also above) - been disappointed by both. They seem to have many owners, for a short time and get moved on. Mine eventually sold - via my buyer - to somebody on the continent - hopefully they have a better experience than I did.
  20. I have that same bridge on one of my custom builds - bloody heavy - mine suffers from the opposite of neck dive - body dive??
  21. Unless you disagree with me....obviously.😉😉
