  1. Almost worth learning to play left handed too...
  2. Take a few months Skip Diving for old plumbing and build yourself a "totally unique" instrument.
  3. From a recent Fender report regarding the use of Ash in their bodies: "When we were redesigning some guitars, we made these exact guitars out of the same everything, same necks, same parts - changing just one thing on each one. We did ash versus alder to hear the differences. Ash was my tonal preference, it has a little more of a scoop in the mids. Alder has more of a peak. “I would say ash has a great sound, especially when you are jamming at home by yourself. When you are playing with a band and need to cut through, the alder has a better peak and allows you to claim more space in the song. But there’s a warmth to ash, that’s what people love about it. "Alder is a more consistent and occupying sound in the mix. It’s just a matter of preference. Every piece of wood is different. Recently, we had six of Tom Morello’s guitars lined and we were going through them with Tom and each one sounded a little different, just because of how the neck and body come together. "It’s like a recipe, you can make it time and time again, it will always be a little different. Wood has its own character, you can pull three or four guitars made on the same day and they will all feel and resonate differently… that’s the beauty of it.”
  4. Not sure if this was featured last year - I don't recall seeing the thread. https://www.guitarworld.com/features/fender-will-no-longer-use-ash-bodies-for-production-line-guitars-we-found-out-why-and-what-woods-will-be-used-instead
  5. Found it...dimensions, etc. https://drumsoul.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/how-to-build-a-blue-man-tubulum.pdf
  6. This is on eBay - currently £77 - but confusing... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-by-Fender-Precision-5-String-Bass/284196217201?hash=item422b6a2171:g:M1cAAOSwarFgNjVU Advertised as a Precision Standard - and it has the P scratchplate - but has J pick ups. Photos aren't great so I can't see if it has a pair of Js or the split P has been replaced with the J. Opinions?
  7. Expect lots of recommendations for the various Fender Rumbles. Personally I'd also have a think about the EBS Sessions. Seem good VFM and they are EBS quality.
  8. Don't give up - Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel
  9. International Shipping - no change on the tracking info for a couple of days - is this normal once it leaves the UK??

  10. Careful....you may find you're upsetting many of his previous clients...😉
  11. Thank you...I knew it reminded me of something... Hard to find a completely unique shape...
  12. Rock around the clock - Bill Hayley & The Comets
  13. Welcome sir... You do know the instruments in the top three photos have too many strings on??? I'm sure you can use them to cut your cheese though...
  14. For those that don't know, the Spectorcore is semi acoustic with "f" holes.
  15. There have been a number of Musicman Sub Rays available recently within your budget - a few on eBay currently. You could do worse.
  16. Nice...cuts out the need for eBay
  17. Received a message from Mark earlier. All Access Pass Coming To An End Hi there! It's Mark from Talkingbass! This is just a quick email just to let you know that as of June 1st, the All Access Pass will unfortunately be coming to an end. Talkingbass is about to go through some huge changes and the All Access Pass won't work as a service within that new framework. The All Access Pass has worked well as a way for many people to take a glimpse at the courses on a temporary basis, often with a view to purchasing a course. But the service will be closing as of June. This gives, those of you still subscribing, three months in which to make the most of the pass and finish up any courses you're trying out at the moment. I'll be sending out some more emails closer to that time so keep an eye out for those. The new developments at Talkingbass will be revealed later in the year but I'm really excited about all the great features we'll be bringing, many of which have been suggested by the community. Cheers Mark
  18. I have an earlier model for sale here and IMO they're one of the best EF available....and I've bought a few. This is the second one I've bought and sold, only because I'm not gigging (is anybody?) and only use pedals at home. Whether it is "the best" one available I can't say but spending twice the money for negligible gain doesn't make sense to be. Certainly "good enough" I'd say..
