  1. Yes, thanks Dad...amended Too angry to think straight...couriers claim they couldn't collect my recent Bass purchase because of the hill... Spoke to the seller - there is no hill!!
  2. Whenever I come to these threads I think "Come on Andy, stop working on the bass and post something.." Whenever the owner of the bass comes to the thread they're thinking "Come on Andy stop posting and get working on the bass..." As they say, "you can't please everybody.."
  3. Don't cite this too often to guitarists as they may cite what the rest of "bass" is...
  4. Ah, they don't build 'em like they usedta...thank fack...
  5. I've considered that too...I've been waiting to find a Thunder 1/11/111a with a broken headstock or one of those incredibly heavy thru neck satellite basses.
  6. Have you thought about a TE Brightbox? It is a 4x5" cab which works very nicely, TYVM. They don't come up very often but IIRC there was one for sale in the classifieds here before Xmas.
  7. I've often thought about, but lacked the skills to, buying one of the cricket bats and adding wings to the body to make it into the shape I wanted.
  8. There's also these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steinberger-5-string-bass-headless-status-Hard-case-and-jazz-music-included-man/254841883392?hash=item3b55c28b00:g:KvsAAOSwjFtf-vI- I had a 4 string years ago but was disappointed with the electronics.
  9. Count me in the "New to 5er Club". Similar story to @mcnach having previously owned but never really gelled with 5ers I've committed to persevering with the Lakland, so much so that I also bought a Sterling Sub 5er which is 34", where my Lakland is 35". Similar story with ringing strings so I added mutes by the bridge helps dampen bumm notes which means I'm getting less banging on the floor from upstairs who have a baby. What I also like is the ability to play Octaves in two positions so I'm actually varying the riffs I'm playing by moving into other octaves. I am frustrated sometimes trying to identify notes which was second nature on a 4 string but this is merely a hurdle that I need to overcome - it'll will come with time. I'm avoiding going back to my 4 strings for now...
  10. Point it at the guitarist - it'll help them - we all know that guitarists are full of sheeet.
  11. Welcome sir... Good choice with the Spector...
  12. If you ever decide to rehome them let me know...
  13. The two "true" Stingrays I had were chalk and cheese. The '96 played like a dream, perfect balance, great tones. The '06 was one of the most indifferent instruments I've ever owned. Regretted selling the first - non plussed about the second..
  14. The Bottle - Gil Scott Heron/ Paul Weller
