Only partially true...After MyHermes failed to collect my recently acquired bass, Interparcel allocated the collection to Tuffnells who I knew nothing about (even though they have a depot about 1 mile from where I live). Apparently they're no/ not much better than MyHermes.

I agree - I have Indo made Laklands, G&Ls amongst others. The point I was making is that it doesn't really matter where basses are made anymore - hence not being able to understand the premium we pay for US built instruments - anybody can nail them together. The builders in Korea/ Indonesia/ China can all do it to a satisfactory level once trained.

Guitars ceased to be "hand-made" a long time ago so it nolonger requires a craftsman to make one, merely a machine operator. If you want a hand crafted instrument for a reasonable price go to one of the luthiers on this forum.

Hi again. It's Mark from Talkingbass! Over the past few years I’ve been asked time and time again about short scale basses. The usual conversation involves an initial grievance of bass players with smaller hands struggling to get to grips with the wide frets of a traditional long scale bass. My answer is most often along the lines of “Don’t worry about it, learn to make use of position shifts and work on adapting to the size by developing your technique” And I still stand by that. I know many bass players with small hands that play great regardless of the scale. However, there is always the option of a small scale bass. Sire basses are made in collaboration with Marcus Miller so they have a strong name behind them and they have become the standard when it comes to affordable, high quality instruments. The Sire U5 was released earlier in 2020 so this is a relatively new addition to the Short Scale lineup. Advice I should have taken when I was downsizing - all the money I made from selling my Spectors went into other brand basses. Not saying those basses aren't worth owning but ATEOTD they're not Spectors.
