One of the main factors will be how far the bass needs to be carried.
If there is a significant distance then you'll want to carry as little weight as possible - gigbag.
If it's not far from car to venue then maybe think about the hardcase but TBH I mainly use them for storing basses which aren't being used.
Not sure where you are @robbo400, if you're in the South East you just missed the local Bass Bash where you could have tried a number of basses which could have suited your needs.
Check the "events" thread to see if there is happening near to you or there may be a BCer nearby who can let you try some of their wares.
How much do you want to spend? You can pick up one of the Squier minis for under a hundred quid if you shop around. If you want to spend a bit more, try one of the short scale Musicman basses. I have both - neither disappoint.
After seeing Laurence Cottell today I wish that I'd been more committed to learning bass properly - you know, learning to read and having a proper practice regime that last more than an hour.
Yep, I could have been a contender...
Great day out - as usual.
Lawrence Cottle was amazing - not sure if I felt inspired or demoralised. He practices for 3 hours a day, everyday.
Did anybody video his seminar?
