Couriers in general are a necessary evil we have to accept if we don't want to deliver or have gear collected.
You pay your money and take the risk.
I think that we've all got horror stories about Couriers haven’t we?
I'd have this. Collection only from Wigan.

I have a Tanglewood Acoustic 4 string bass which, TBH I really shouldn't have bought - another impulse buy - needs a new home where it might get used.
I'll bring it along.
Hey Ross
Have you spoken to @Garymac...he's local too.
There's a new luthier, Matt Kersey, in Symondshyde who I used to install a preamp.

I'm at the stage of thinking about moving some gear on but TBH I see a lot of my gear as a potential Life Insurance policy - gear I've acquired for not a lot which I hope to sell down the line for a bit more.
I have several basses I'll be reluctant to part with - the two that @Andyjr1515 built for me, my VC and the @Jabba_the_gut mini. While I'm still playing I plan to hold onto my Yamahas too.
I hope that once I've started to sell stuff it'll become easier.
That was my thought. Get yourself a £50 copy to take with, bring back something a bit more classy and hope for the best.
Don't assume that HMC&E don't know what they are doing though, they have specialists in the value of most stuff.
Just been browsing on Gumtree and there's a quite nice looking red semi acoustic bass by Gear4Music for not a lot.
I've seen loads of their gear for not a lot. I accept its probably entry level gear - similar to HB - but the difference in build quality can't be so wide that HB are regarded highly while G4M has seemingly no following.
Does anybody have any experience of G4M gear?
