This phrase really gets on my nerves - it's become a common response to "what's it worth" - ridiculous as the buyer may well put the item back up for sale the following day ("flip it!" ) and get several hundreds/ thousands more. So which is it? The first amount? The second? An average of the two? I advertise my gear for what I think it's worth, taking into account condition -v- similar items I've seen sold. Basically what I think would be a fair price to pay if I was buying it. Want to buy it at that price? If the answer is "no" then I'll hold on to it till somebody will and you can find one at a price you are prepared to pay (and take the risks of the unknown). My brother sells antiques and is often "lowballed" - his attitude is "fucck 'em" - when they can't find it at the price they want to pay they'll either come back or they can go without.

Some more of Lukasz's creation which are available IIRC he was also selling a red fretless - wouldn't be surprised if it sold but worth asking the man himself. @Lukasz Chyla

So did I after I asked the question - not on eBay so I thought it must have been Gumtree. Couldn't find it there either. It was black and IIRC the seller had bought it, not gelled and was selling.

I loved my "Green machine" Overwater - so much so that I was scared to take it out. Pointless having it really. I eventually sold it back to the fella who commissioned it in the first place. Yours is looking fine already.

So, so much. Deliberately vague to protect the BCer and the UK vender. I traded a very nice Spector bass for a well known branded and artist endorsed bass built for a UK manufacturer in the Far East. Got it home, the build quality was abysmal, the individual (out of alignment) bridges felt like they were made from milk bottle tops, the tuners, again misaligned, seemed to be unable to hold a tuning, the strap locks were loose and the whole bass felt CHEAP - not inexpensive, CHEAP!! I'd previously played another of the UK Vendor's instruments at the LBGS and it felt reasonably playable for a budget instrument - this did not. I rang the person I traded with and agreed to pay for both basses to be couriered as we'd met up at a well known venue near a major road just so that I could get the Spector back. I've been wary of this brand ever since. It wouldn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out which bass this is - I won't be drawn any further on it.

Pretty much agree. Over-rated: Fender US Models. Are they really worth all that much more than their Squier cousins? Underrated: The Squier cousins. Overrated: Warwick, who still haven't paid Stuart Spector's Court costs or their fines. Underrated: Spector, the original cambered bass which was clearly ripped off by Warwick. See above.

A few people have mentioned that they would be interested in bringing items for sale at the Bash. No problem with this - always nice to have the opportunity to move gear on to make way for new gear. Please list items that you are looking to sell.

You are describing, as @Acebassmusicsays, the Fender/ Squier Dimension and Modern Players perfectly. Both great basses which play like a top end bass and sound fantastic. However they suffer from the old school Fender owners seeing them as "not a P or a J". Both are selling used for ludicrously low prices considering what you get for your money. Sometimes the price items sell for does not represent what you get for your money.

I forgot to mention that Lukasz has several others available on ebay currently. I have no hesitation in recommending his creations. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166353012951?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=2ktZllUoQpO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166355547362?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=2ktZllUoQpO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374900172374?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=lrPkWbz4QEW&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Get 'em while you can!!

In the past I've not been averse to supporting builders/ traders on this forum. I've got 3 basses built or worked on basses from @Andyjr1515, bought two lightty up things from @bertbass amongst others. This time I've been lucky enough to acquire a beautiful (aesthetically and performing) blue 5er from our own @Lukasz Chyla which he had advertised on ebay. Being familiar with his work from here I was able to contact Lukasz and we negotiated a deal that we were both happy with. I maintain that I am the happier of the two and I think you will see why from the photos (or in person at the forthcoming SE Bash). Fit and finish is as good as anything you'll get from a high production manufacturer and it feels top quality in your hands. No hint of neck dive, super smooth neck, excellent set up and action. Some under-rate the Wilkinson pickups - I have no problem with them - I think that they represent great vfm and I challenge anybody else to pick them out as budget pickups in the mix. As I said, this will be attending the SE Bash along with the @Jabba_the_gut short scale - both will be available to try so attendees can get an idea of the quality of products being built in this community.

I also traded a bass with Lukasz - a mass produced Fender for one of his beautiful creations. Firstly, Lukasz makes packing a bass look like an art form - lots of beautifully folded bubble wrap, boxed then packed with lots of padding. The transaction was super smooth - lots of detailed correspondence beforehand to iron out and potential hazards, including holding off till Monday before posting so that neither bass was in the warehouse any longer than need be. Anybody who hasn't tried or owned one of Lukasz's bass really needs to give them a try - absolutely top class instruments - he currently has a few on eBay so be quick and jump in. (I would have had the red 5er but I'm not a fan of red basses). More than happy to trade again - TOP BCer!!
