  1. Frustrating when C&E get involved - they're a law unto themselves. I had a bass travel from two points in the UK three times before it finally cleared customs. IIRC it was with me within two days. Patience.....
  2. No takers?? I thought people would be throwing themselves at this project..
  3. Spoken (written??) like a true BCer...
  4. Tears on my pillow - Johnny Nash (NOT Cash!!)
  5. Calling occupants of interplanetary craft - The Carpenters
  6. A mere scratch... I've had instruments with much worse wounds repaired. Just need to find a good luthier.
  7. Any of the G&L range will be more than adequate as a first bass.
  8. Still tempted but still no room in my flat. Have a bump though...
  9. Great price for this head - don't crumble under the pressure to sell and reduce the price - seen similar items sell for more on eBay (beware of the commission though).
  10. My neighbour is Richard Bona's cousin and I'm told he pops in when he's in the UK. I've never seen him though. Hatfield's a bit of a trek for you just to get his signature on the head at short notice.
  11. Assume nothing - double check everything.
  12. I have sympathy with @J66Bass having gone through a similar scenario myself recently. In my case the transaction did actually go through eventually but all the way through it felt "not right". As I said the deal did eventually happen but I thought it best to be over cautious where the situation could easily have been a scam...there are no shortage of scumbags who are trying it on currently. I think it's best that the FB post be deleted - after all you are £30 up. Not a very good scam if it was one.
  13. Big thumbs up for Dave Swift who, when approached, arranged for a donated bass and a top hat to be signed for one of the Herts Bashes as well as a guest pass for me to see the Jules Holland r'n'r Orchestra and get back stage. I actually met the behatted front man at a Shelter (the homeless charity) benefit football event. Very approachable, he and other members of the band ( not Mr Zender, unfortunately) signed a couple of footballs we went on to raffle, posed for photos used to promote a local benefit gig we subsequently arranged and was generally a very nice man. Not all the celebs at the event were as approachable...no names mentioned...Amon Dalbarn
