1.
This could be the answer! http://www.poundland...otebook-cooler/
That'll be the one!
2. Cheaper than breeze blocks Laptop Cooler and you get added cooling and blue light if you feel the need........! Got one from my local pound shop when I used to use barefaced, did the job.
3.
£16! I didnt know such things existed.
Here you go http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tiger-Alice-Double-Bass-Strings/dp/B003VZQ2CQ/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Probably a pile of poo but for the purpose of experimentation.............!
4. As you say, Pete, there is more string behind the bridge. I might get a set of 4/4 Alice strings to experiment with - at 16 quid it won't be the end of the world if is a dismal failure!
5. 6. Hmm Looks like they're not going to fit the EUB I had in mind Shame 'cos its a bargain price! Have a bump on me
7. I have a dead 'E' string on my Bassix EUB. It is currently strung with Presto lights, and the other 3 sound fine so the obvious solution would be to buy a single Presto 'E' string. However I am unable to locate anywhere that supplies them singularly so I am looking at alternatives before I splash out on a full set. I borrowed a single ¾ spiro 'E' to experiment, but when fitted, the silk winding at the tail started about an inch on the playing side of the nut, with too much tail remaining to fit on the tuning post (which is a standard Bass Guitar tuner) That is to say there would be at least six or seven winds around the post. I hope I've described it adequately, I've given the Spiro back now so I'm unable to photograph it The original Presto measures 55 inches from the ball-end to the beginning of the silk winding I'm thinking a 4/4 string would probably have the effect of moving the silk further up past the nut, but if a 3/4 string is too long then a 4/4 is gonna be worse! I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other strings that work with a magnetic pickup, which might fit the bill With the price of these strings I am trying to avoid a costly mistake, so any help would be appreciated Thanks

13. Where are you located ? Edit. Couldn't see your location on my mobile Leicester is a bit far for me, I'm afraid - I could have sneaked it in under the radar had I been able to collect but the postie knocking on the door with it is a bit obvious!

19. Now on ebay - still trying to figure how the "Free Listing" event cost me nearly 3 quid!!
20. In answer to pm's, I have replaced the stock strings with the NS designs Traditional set. The blurb says "The Traditional Double Bass set is constructed and tensioned similarly to acoustic bass strings, for a warm tone, feel, and great bowed response. They are essentially similar to the Helicore upright bass strings, but sized for the NS EUB's. These were formerly sold as the "NS.Helicore" string set, and have recently undergone a packaging and name change. If you're looking for a more traditional vibe, but don't want to wrap extended length strings around the bottom of the bass, this is probably your best bet"
