1. Just sold Martin some speaker cabs, I had a few technical hitches with the meet up but Martin took it all in his stride and showed a great deal of patience. I eventually got them to him and he made a smashing cuppa even though it was getting late! Oh yeah - he's got the cutest springer spaniel I've ever seen!!
2. Bump for price reduction
3. I have the same problem. Can it be repaired? Mine's a 5 string MM pup but with a bit wider spacing than the Stingray so might be difficult to find a replacement. Sorry for the hijack
4. Where did you get it from? If it was Thomann, have a look at this email I got sent from a company over here which offered a price matching service. They couldn't get anywhere near the Thomann price but sent me this. I dont know whether its a ploy to scare people away from Thomann or if there is something in it
Hi Andy, details are as follows: Markbass write clearly on their website and in the user manuals the following information. (this is taken directly from the product page for the Little Mark III Head). “Markbass amps/combos are manufactured to be sold and used in the country of purchase, and they are factory preset to that country’s voltage. Due to homologation issues, the voltage may not be changed.” What does this means in practice? 1. Markbass amplifiers are designed for the country they are sold in. For Europe the voltage in the UK and EU (Germany/France) is slightly different. Markbass does make different models for UK and EU zone, and these can be tracked by serial number. 1. If a customer uses a lower voltage EU model in the UK, there is a risk, the amp can suffer a power failure. These failures cannot be treated as warranty repairs as there is a clear notice in the user manual warning not to use them outside of country of supply. Also, depending on the nature of the damage, the amp will have to be returned to the country of origin for service – most likely by the customer in consultation with the supplying dealer. 1. Markbass will not supply us or our UK service agents with parts for amps that are not UK electronic spec. (Clearly for power safety reasons) . 1. This does mean that amps bought from European mainland dealers should not be used in the UK, and if they suffer a power failure will have to be returned to the shop from where it was purchased to be serviced. 1. If you are wondering about musicians who come to the UK with their Markbass equipment. We have procedures in place for touring artists. Please contact us if you get a call about this from someone.
just a thought (fueled by a few beers!)
5. Here's a few pictures. I noticed while taking the pics there are a few more marks than I thought, mainly along the front and rear edges, where it looks like it had possibly been in a rack. These had been touched up by a previous owner and I never even noticed, so they dont stand out unless you look close. There is a small scratch on the top which I tried to polish out but just made it shinier see pics. In view of the above, I'll knock a bit off so its now £350 posted As you can see, its 4 years old
6. Markbass F1 head for sale, it has a few marks as you would expect from a gigging piece of equipment, but is in perfect working order. Full specs here http://www.markbass....etail.php?id=82 [s]£375[/s][s] + shipping [/s] Price reduced to £350 plus shipping
7. Here's mine. U-Retro with black knobs incoming!
8. Just Received a U-Retro from Vin, shipped out in double quick time and kept me fully informed. I have to agree with the post above regarding packaging - awesome! Highly reccommended
9. Just had a very easy and pleasant deal with Neil, he kept me fully informed throughout and payment was "on the button!" I'd have no hesitation trading with him again and would certainly reccommend him
10. I think we need an idiots guide to in ear monitoring sticky. I am contemplating going down the IEM route, but when I look back at how much money I've wasted on unsuitable bass gear over the years,i am hesitant to part with the folding stuff until I am a bit more clued up
11. Thanks for all the interest, I have had some interest in buying the pair, but will post on here with prices if I have to sell separately Cheers Andy
12.
Silver cloth or black grille?
They're black grill. I will respond to pm's and posts later tonight, gotta soundcheck to make, and I'm late already!!
13. Too much gear, too few gigs! Excellent Condition, both with Roqsolid covers. Want to sell as a pair for £800. Not really practical to post, so collection from Swindon although might consider meeting halfway/delivery option for petrol depending on distance No trades I'm afraid (see above!) You all know what these look like, but will take photos if anyone wants. Get in quick before my sanity returns!
14. With much regret I must sell this excellent specimen of a 2002 MiM Fender 5 string Jazz bass. Dont let anyone tell you that mex Fenders are inferior, 'cos if you get a good one, they're right up there with the US and CiJ models, and this is a really good 'un! Best B string I've heard on a Fender by miles! The only modifications I have made is to upgrade to Fender N3 noiseless pickups, which iare a great improvement on the stock items. I have used this bass on many gigs, but the overall condition is very good, with just a couple of minor scratches. One thing to point out is that it has had a repair to the headstock, where a slight crack was present, but I took it to Simon Law, (he of Guitar magazine tech column and tech to Matt Schofield and Robben Ford), who injected some "luthier glue type stuff" in there and clamped it up for a couple of days, and its now probably stronger than new! I've tried to photo this, but there is absolutely no problem with it at all. [s]£350[/s] £300 plus postage, collect from Swindon or possible meet halfway/deliver for petrol money depending on distance. Pics! 15. I originally bought this with a view to using with a power amp for my gigging set up but subsequently the band folded so I have been using it as a headphone amp, which it does brilliantly! Its a very "musical" piece of kit that has obviously been well thought out. It has many useful functions, here's the official blurb "The Phil Jones Bass Buddy multi-function headphone amp. The Bass Buddy is made with a heavy plated chrome steel case with 1/4" CNC machined aluminum front panel. Its features include an EQ dedicated for Bass instruments, a stereo input and volume control for drum machine/MP3/walkman, and is battery powered or with a AC adaptor. It could also be used as an active DI box, or a pre-amp with enough power to drive any headphones, power amp or even a speaker. Weighs only 2 lbs. and measures 5.35 inches W x 1.75 inches H x 7.3 inches D. The Bass Buddy™ is the most compact practice amp in the market loaded with multiple features. A heavy duty, protective padded shoulder bag is also included." One tiny barely visible scratch on the top £160 posted to you sir if you're in the UK mainland! 16. Just pulled the trigger on a used U-Retro, its gotta be an improvement over the stock preamp, I dont want to get into changing the pickups though, as I think it might be a bit of a problem finding a MM type pickup compatible with the wider spacing, and anyway, the retro has nearly doubled the value of the bass!
Recently aquired a fretless fiver, its a very well put together bass, not too heavy and balances well. The low B isn't great but I have a new set of strings in the post and if they improve matters, I might consider an electrical upgrade, as I agree with the previous posts regarding pickups and circuit. Here's a pic (courtesy of mykesbass - hope you dont mind )
17. Do you know if the controls can be separated from the plate and surface mounted directly onto a bass body?
18. Thinking about one of these for my daughter to use as a practice tool. Not too worried about the quality of the effects, but the rhythm patterns and metronome sound useful, as does the aux in. The previous models had a reputation for eating batteries, anyone here had any experience of these for bass? Cheers Andy
19.
Nice looking bass! I didn't know there were fretless versions.
The previous owner, Mykesbass had the board replaced by john shuker, as I recall. Made a cracking job of it too! I got some SIT silencer halfwounds through the letterbox today so I'll fit them when time allows and see if there is an improvement in the B string. Might be a U-Retro incoming if it turns out alright
