1. Here's my contribution to the darker side of life
2. I think it sounds like you've lost yourself and your mind is flying in 15 different directions at once thinking "I want this, I want that" grasping for things. Stop trying. Declutter... 3. Andy, I'll take this if you want a cash on collection fast sale

6. Sold Jim some HB2's - nice and easy transaction, a pleasure to deal with.
7. Nice bass and a great price for a US model - best of luck with the sale
8. Requested info on dimensions:
9. Bought some Hipshot HB2s - smooth and easy transaction with nice fast postage.
10. Duplicate thread - oops
11. These literally arrived today as I just bought them from another BCer - to be honest I pulled the trigger pretty impulsively as I also had a set of ultralites on order, which it turns out work better for this particular bass. Perfect condition, with all the bushings/screws/original box etc. Nice action and tuning stability and a straight swap for a 70's style fender tuner. Also a weight saving to be made, which is not to be sniffed at when you put them on the end of a bass necks leverage. Original fender tuner weighs 110g and these are 92g, so a set of 4 shaves another 72g off your headstock.
12. PM'd - I shouldn't have sold the sexy red one I bought from Clarky
13. A generous offer mate but I'm not really sure! I've just been having a little string-fest on the tony franklin. I've still got a set of d'addario nylon tapes that you had on my original TF. Can't quite get my head around tapes - with my old fav set of sunbeams I can get that real mwaah out of it, I guess with a nice low action the tapes will do the same thing?
14. That'll teach me for doing my chores so early - missed it!
15. I'll take em please - will PM you in a bit when I get home from work
16.
Legion, that's my bass! I'm very glad you didn't buy it, cause it meant I could. It is a thing of abiding beauty. Thanks again Howard, or should I say Uncle Horrid? Matthew
Ahh, so thats where it ended up - if you ever...well you know...
17. Well, although there are lots of factors with strings such as compliance, feel blah blah, if they sound rubbish why would you use them. So to sum it up - I like the sound.
18.
This ^^^
Speaking of which, this is what I really should have bought from him when I had the chance.
19. And just to remind us all what we are talking about...mmm
20. I suppose in further defence of the Pino I should add I've owned a very nice Sadowsky NYC PJ and trialled an Alleva Coppolo KPB4 for a while as well. Whilst the AC and the Sadowsky were amazing basses, the Pino is very much their equal, although each had different strengths. The Sadowsky sounded very modern, but my god it was well put together, silent as a mouse and super light and balanced. The Alleva had the best neck I've played, but there were some quality issues I would not tolerate in that price bracket. The Pino just nails the vintage fender thing. Plus of course Fender made me a brand new neck, reliced and all, for free when mine (which I bought second hand) had an issue.
21.
But how good are they? I know it's all subjective, but what makes them so great? Build quality? Attention to detail? Components? All of these?
I felt completely at home with mine as soon as I picked it up and after the tone of the first few unplugged notes I was sold. They just have that "played in" feel and I'm sure its no coincidence I'm always at my most inspired when I'm playing the Pino. Would I pay retail price though? hmm, dunno. Second hand however, definitely. ps. don't foolishly sell it. Twice. Like I did
22. I can help with this - I'll PM you the details (probably later when I get home from work).
23. Actually - I'd love to have the pair (oooerr Mrs). Unfortunately I pulled the trigger on the Tony Franklin just before you put the '71 fretless up. Hmmm...maybe there are some options to consider.
24. You are all a very bad influence. PM'd
