1. Bump - ready to ship and price drop, posts edited to reflect changes
2. Update: back up for sale as before, normal service resumed sorry about the momentary glitch. These are still packed and ready to post - I'll now do £650 shipped in the UK (very firm). Got things brewing and these can't stay
3.
Anything on my sig interest you?
Possibly the DB but at this moment I'd rather wait out for a straight sale to be honest
https://picasaweb.go...298450957101234 Fancy a trade?
I'm afraid I'm not looking for basses, especially 5 strings!
4.
Are these the ER models? Both of them? If so, if we can arrange delivery or meet I'll take em.
They are, and they are now packed up (as best I can given how big they are) if someone wants to arrange a courier they have the option. Few people have enquired about this so it's now down to a first come basis as I want them out of the way for impending home improvements!
5. Bump, lots of interest but not from anybody with a car
6. Gotta pop out for a few hours, I'll dwell on what options I have for packing them
7. I thought you just bought an AE212?
8. Love these cabs, really nice smooth and creamy sound with a particularly musical tweeter but my recent Barefaced purchase ranks higher in terms of watts/kg due to the slightly odd power rating on the Tecamp Puma 1000 that I'm using so thats providing me with a proper one cab solution. They are in great nick, little bit of carpet fluffing on the HT cab where it looks like a markbass amp in a bag has been velcroed to the top. Could probably take some clippers to it and tidy it up but hardly necessary really. Both have the proper padded Berg covers as well. *SOLD*
9. Don't have my RH450 anymore but that foot controller was one of the best things about it. Get one, they are seriously sturdy, have a constant tuner display and a handy mute switch as well as access to the 3 presets you have saved
10.
I actually like the Picato flat wounds! Regardless of the Price and have had several sets with no problems, in fact I am sure I have a set taken off a Spector Rebop if your beater bass has two a side machine head layout, then you can have them FOC,
I'm with Dave, regardless of price aspects I really like the Picato flats more than a lot of the more expensive strings out there.
11.
Another Barefaced that needs 1000 watts?
Thats twisting things somewhat...the actual issue here is that the Puma 1000 that I have (the older version) will only put out the 1000W bridged into a minimum 8ohm load. Unlike a lot of the micros that all put out the max to a 4 ohm load. There is not a huge choice of cabs that are 8ohms and will handle that sort of power that I've seen. This was a massive plus point of the Big One or Big Baby for me.
12. Gong was never something I really got into (not enough mushrooms?) but the Orb was one of Hillages projects that I really liked, Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld is my album of the 90's. Love it.
13.
Immense mate. I have a Puma 500 into a compact and midget t. It sounds like I always imagined I wanted my bass to sound live. Perfect modular set up too in terms of some gigs with both, some with cmpact, some with midget t. Brilliant.
To be honest the setup you have would probably be ideal for me as well, must sound very nice. Having picked up the Puma 1000 so cheap I just couldnt resist though
Is that a Big Baby with a tweeter? They look very interesting
Certainly is, although as I say I'm not even convinced I needed the tweeter as the midrange driver sounds so smooth up top. Still, it's not like there any harm having the option if I one day turn into a slap-lover (yea right)
14. Well, now my rig looks like this I can add comment. Basically... Jesus! It's very well built, has a very even and uncoloured sounding tone, weighs nothing and allows me to release the full 1000W from the Puma making it shockingly loud. The tweeter adds a subtle sparkle up top which to be honest I'm finding nearly unnecessary as the midrange driver sounds so good. And the midrange driver can also be fully unleashed by another switch adding a lot of aggression to the tone if you want it. It only arrived today, but I'm wondering why on earth I never did this months ago considering the ability to take a trial is always there. Much though I love my Bergs, I can't see them surviving this.
15. I've got one unused for exactly the same project once but just realised its 500k (which is what was on the PJ anyway and that worked nicely) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/152344-clearout/page__fromsearch__1
16. I've got a microkork XL and an old novation bass station that I love using. To be honest I'm not sure if part of my motivation was frustration at our keyboard player not wanting to play stuff that actually suited the song. As Si said though, I just see it as part of looking after the "low end" of the music. Can't be bothered with pedals to be honest, mind you that could just be because I know its another steep learning curve and I'm not willing to go down that route right now.
17.
Sorry but i couldn't find a midget picture looking like i wanted:
Maybe you were looking for something like this one?
18.
To be fair I think the EAD cabs look better than anything else on the market. Me want!
Currently theres not many people who can say more than that, if they also sound good then he's onto a winner
19. I imagine Alex has had to deal with a lot of constructive criticism with his designs - but as they say "you can't please everyone" so at some point practicalities would seem likely to take priority over purely cosmetic (and potentially costly) aspects that are very subjective. Some people love tolex, some hate it, some like rat fur, some like recessed handles...some like plastic stacking corners some like metal.....and the list goes on. It would take a greater man than me to design his own product and put it out there in the market having to take the constant challenges that come his way via the "free speech" of forums. I know I'd really struggle not to lose my rag with someone somewhere along the line Regardless of whether or not you like the cosmetics of Alexs designs I have a lot of respect for him getting out there and trying to do something he's passionate about.
20. I'm looking forwards to being able to add some constructive comments here this week if all goes to plan
21. Thanks for that Alan, I've always been curious about the AE's as I also have the HT stack (which I really like). I'm expecting good things of the Big Baby T when it arrives, even though I realise it will have an inherently different sound to the Bergs. I hope its a sound I like!
22.
Seen that thanks - it's all Jas (Legion) fault that I've listed mine!
Sorry Jack! I'm still on the fence about Big One, or Big Baby...need to decide sharpish
23. I'm very new to this stuff myself, but after a bit of browsing on here I read that the Focusrite range is pretty good so I bought a Focusrite saffire 6 USB. Have to say that I'm more than happy with it...doddle to use and the sound quality is more than good enough for my needs. Can be picked up second hand for around £100 mark
24. If only it was possible to try one of these basses I could make a decision....
25. I did, and I love it - but to be brutally honest I'm not convinced I need it. It was just so cute I had to have it Radioface, I notice you are in Suffolk as well, maybe we can work something out *nudge nudge* J
