I couldn't resist a little shot of my basses (as it stands now). Technically it's a futon not a settee, but I'm hoping nobody will mind L-R: CS Pino, Sadowsky NYC and Road Worn Jazz. I hate having 3 basses but they are all so nice I find it impossible to choose. The Pino and the Road Worn give me all that I need, but the Sadowsky is a total luxury that I'd be terrified to sell only to regret it forever.
I may have, I'll have a look later mate. I've loads of old flats (and I know I've the C and B from a 6-string TI set), but i tend to get through Gs at quite a rate also! Cheers C

Hey Jas, if you buy my Fender 62RI P/J it has an old set of TI Flats on so you could then get the G for just £700 More seriously I will have a dig around and see if I have a G kicking around
Thanks lads - those new ones just sound awful compared to the silky smooth warm sound the old ones had :/

Chris - slightly unrelated (as I like Pyramids but am too set on the TI's). Don't suppose you have any well worn TI's spare? I broke the G string on my 6 year old set putting them back on the Pino (again) Back on topic - bargain price for some Pyramids...Warickhunt was looking for some a while ago, might still be?

Just bought a bass (no comment, I'm a bad man) from Jimi and can recommend him highly - very helpful throughout and fast with delivery. Been a pleasure, thanks

This a very recent aquisition of mine which was a bit whimsical to be honest. Having had a terrible rehearsal the other night, and as we are still struggling to find the right drummer things are not looking very rosy on the gig front so I just don't like having basses laying about not being used. It's really impressed me, having recently tried a Gibson SG supreme and a Mustang RI this really exemplified the vintage vibe that I had tried to find in those other 2 basses but that was somehow lacking for me. This is certainly NOT a Fender, but nevertheless I really like it. It's got the Chi-Sonic humbuckers and a coil tap (pull on the Vol knob) if you want them in Single Coil mode as the Humbucking mode is seriously fat, whereas the Single Coil sound is more aggressive. The neck was a bit of a shock as I've never spent any large amounts of time with a Lakland before and it's a really really nice neck! The weight is also very good at 8lbs 14oz and nicely balanced. Condition is outstanding with only a little swirling and light play wear. It comes in the proper Lakland hard case and has just been strung with a set of DR DDT's which are quire similar in sound to DR Sunbeams if you like that sort of thing (I do) Looking for £800 collected but if you want to arrange a courier I'll package it up nicely. Sorry the photos are a little dark, but it looks like a scene from Bladerunner outside today

My car has the least practical amount of space ever (old BMW 3 series coupe) but my DB always managed to sit on the passenger seat space with the seat as far back/down as it would go. End pin in the footwell, scroll over the headrest. Worth a try?

It's a common occurence with the types of switched mode power supplies used in Class D amps, nothing to worry about.

I've owned a pair of GS112's and a pair of DB112's. Then I traded the DB's for some GS's again Then I sold them on recently. I'd certainly agree that the GS range is a little scooped but I actually really liked the tone (I'm insanely reconsidering getting a pair once more). I felt that the DB range does have a little edge over the GS in terms of tone as they are a bit more present and punchy but...and there's always a but: The DB's are a little heavier and in that form factor I was finding them close to being too heavy for my liking. My main problem with them was the vulnerability factor as they look so lovely but were so much less durable than the GS's. I could chuck the GS cabs around as much as I liked and not have to worry, but the day my DB cabs got the tolex ripped on top by some drunk well meaning bandmates I decided they were not the right thing for me. Especially with that nice cloth grill just waiting to have a cymbal stand rammed through it or some other gigging/loading/unloading in stupid tight spaces disaster scenario. Personally, seeing the price you can pick up a pair of used GS112's for they would get my vote every time based on a nice smooth sound, reasonable weight and serious durability.

First there was Kylie Then there was the '74 Then the CIJ Then Tony (still mine) Somewhere along the lines a Sandberg as well Erm..then the Pino (now with Clarky) And lastly my Sadowsky... That should just about do it So why do I still find myself drooling at Precisions?

John Entwhistle did this a lot (if i recall?), there's probably tons of material out there if you want to study his style.

Sometime in the late 80's I bought one of these, when I returned to playing bass I found some more. Very thin, but for whatever reason they just work for me (even though I have some much thicker ones) Landstrom Sharkfin picks:

Musicman Stingray Fretless 4 string, Unlined £600
What is that fingerboard made of? Very pretty, and it doesn't look like rosewood to me.
Pau Ferro is standard on fretless EBMM stuff I think and this looks like exactly that. It's slightly harder and lighter in colour than Rosewood. -
I just took delivery of a bass bought remotely from iam (Koen) in Belgium and I can report that it was a really smooth transaction throughout. Information up front was good, packaging was excellent and the delivery was super fast. Thanks again Koen, it was a pleasure
Strange isnt it, when ur skint there's loads of basses you'd kill to own in the for sale section! Now that ive sold a few basses off and finally have the cash there's nothing i want! Why??? Grrrrrrr!! Lol
There's no pleasing some people! You're in a good situation - you have no need to buy anything unless it meets your needs, and if it does, you have the cash to get it. Don't get stressed about it, enjoy your shopping experience -
East P-Retro (SOLD)

Bought this from Beedster recently (he has too many!) but in preparation for possibly selling the bass it was in I've returned it to stock and want to move this on. It's an ingenious little pre-amp which adds a lot of versatility to a Precision bass, the battery charger is really the icing on the cake. If you are looking then you probably already know about them but all the details are on Johns site P-Retro Looking for £125 posted.
SOLD to Legion!
It's true...I'm a bad man. Hopefully this will arrive intact and I can strap it together with my Tony Franklin, throw a knife into the middle and see who's the victor. Harsh I know, but just playing them and making the decision would be sooo much harder for me -
Good man!

Go for it. STUNNING colour....but I hope things get sorted for you. What a shame to let it go.
One the one hand it's lovely to have some support, on the other hand... Can you both email my g/f to explain why I would need to do this Joking aside, its a lovely example of P-Bassness and I'm sure it will do someone proud. The logistics might make it a bit hard for me to do anything about this one though. Early days mind you ...

I spoke to a company once that make proper felt and very kindly they sent me some "samples" which were anything up to about 1cm deep. I used a very sharp craft knife blade to cut it into little squares that I stuck onto one of my old stingrays mutes (originals long rotted away). It works really nicely, still got a few bits left somewhere if you need a some.

Sorry to hear about the crappy financial situation I guess you've looked after the bass, now its time for the bass to repay. Regards the bass; I think I better go sleep on it. I have some crazy ideas that would get me in trouble. I'm not sure what impulsive moves I might make if this is still available in the morning... Edit: only live once...PM'd

I'm not really a fan of rounds and much prefer flats on my Sadowsky P, or on any P bass for that matter. Oddly though I prefer rounds on my TF. Mind you they are very very dead (2+ year old Hi Beams), and thats what I like about them. I like to be able to dig in on the fretless as it gives a great tone and some noise that would be awful if it was fretted, but being fretless you just get cool woody clicks Every now and then I think I'd prefer flats and put some TI's back on it, then go straight back to the dead old Hi Beams because "digging in" with TI's means using almost no force at all. Just gotta play around with strings to find what you like I guess.
You ought to try an Epi EB3 Much cheaper and with a proper 34" scale length
It was actually the short scale aspect I was most curious about. I was hoping for a mellower sort of sound, instead it was just bad I'd certainly like to try an EB3 if I get the chance...
