Well done Jas, you got the set up you wanted, it looks great and I'm sure it sounds even better. I'm really happy with the GS cabs I bought from you, they were gigged again last night and are perfect with my MB SA450 which I decided to buy after our LMK conversation. The rig fills big rooms with bass without even going past 9 o'clock!
Thanks, it sounds just how I like it to right now - I'm glad you are getting on well with the GS cabs, and not at all surprised as they sound great with a Markbass in particular. There's no Rabbit to be seen here - but there is some Chocolate! Gigged this rig Friday night and it sounded marvelous. I'm done with gear swapping (for 10 minutes at least).
*whistles*
Don't worry mate - you are still numero uno on the list! I'm loving the sadowsky I've just bought though and need to weigh up which of the P's to keep which is turning out to be a bit tougher than I thought.
Errr....now you've got me. How about something to quell the GAS. Does it smell for instance? Or you could wax lyrical about it's awesomeness. Or you could tell you hate yours and you will sell it to me for 50p. See what happens when I venture outside the Off Topic forum? P.
It doesnt smell, but I could wax lyrical about its awesomeness. It's a great bass with very nicely voiced pickups - the selector switch setup is great and the drop d tuner is quality (unlike recent hipshots I've used). The middle position sounds best to my ears with a P bass sound but less boomy and more defined....yumm. I'm probably going to sell mine pretty soon by the way - just trying to weigh up if I keep the P bass or the Tony. Edit: oh yea, and for some sound clips check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsVLOJDX-fM J
Anybody have any experience of the Tony Franklin fretted bass? I like the idea of the 3 way pickup switch but haven't been able to find any video or audio of the fretted version. P.
I've got the fretless which has the same configuration, anything in particular you'd like to know? J

Paul drove over yesterday to pick up the Sterling HH - he was even kind enough to bring a couple of his Laklands for me to take a look at as I have been wanting to check some out. He's been a pleasure to deal with throughout, and I'm pleased we got to meet up for a chat.
Trouble is, the US ones are scarce as hens teeth by comparison with the Skylines. Don't know of anywhere that stocks the US models and would be suprised if the Gallery has any.
You are totally correct there...I rung the gallery today and they have a Sadowsky RV4 and UV70 in stock. Lakland-wise they have a JO Skyline I can try, but thats about all. I have been offered a good price on a USA JO model by bass Central but I hate buying blind so dunno what move to make next. I'm getting scared about selling the Sterling lol J

Oh dear - this is confusing me even more I think! Ultimately I want just one bass so maybe it better be a Lakland USA or Sadowsky Metro eh. I'll have visit the Bass Gallery very soon and try out whatever they have I think. Thanks for all the discussion though, keep it coming.

I'm getting the urge to find a jazz bass and as well as Sadowsky I'm considering a Lakland one. I tried out a Skyline at the Bass Merchant a few weeks ago and it seemed pretty damn good, has anybody got any advice about if the USA versions are really worth the extra cash? I've not had the opportunity to play one so it's all academic to me Thanks in advance J EDIT: note to self: search the forums first you lazy sod - found a fair bit of info already, feel free to ignore this stupid question

Rob just valiantly drove from Coventry to Ipswich to collect the Aguilar GS112's - pleasure to deal with at all times. Thanks again

These are amazing cabs and the versatility you get by having the 2 cabs is a godsend. I just need one for rehearsal and take 2 for a large gig. I'll be buying more Aguilar cabs to replace these if i sell them, just a different type to satisfy my current cravings. You know the spec, they are both in great condition with only a little bit of dust and fluffy carpet where my Markbass LMII bag was velcroed to the top. I bought them new from the Bass Merchant and theyve only seen one gig. I might post better photos later - although for now I've got this shot of my rig I'd like to sell them together for £475 collected, or an arranged meet up somewhere not too far away. I'll consider splitting them - but rather not as I might end up with one cab J
I think, as of soon, my '89 stingray may have to go up for sale. This is way too gorgeous (and local) to let pass. Where in suffolk are you? I'd be very tempted to come try it out before actually deciding to part with my beloved stingray.
Not far from you at all...Ipswich. Let me know if you want to check it out. J

Ok, here goes... This is my 2008 Limited Edition Musicman Sterling HH. It's the gorgeous Sequoia Gold colour scheme, photos really dont do this finish justice - I took some shots outside to try and get the most amount of light on it but you have to see it in person really. Included is the crazy fake lizard skin LE case as well. I picked this one in particular as it didn't have a matching headstock (not a look I like) and it weighs in a nice 8.8lbs which is light for a lot of Musicmans these days. It plays great, the action will go very low and it offers a lot of tonal variation with the 5 position pickup selector and 3 band EQ. Currently strung with DR high beams. Unfortunately there is one small cosmetic flaw with the clearcoat on the back. I had it shipped from the USA and it must have been on the coldest plane in the world and it has caused a hairline crack in the polyester clearcoat either side of the battery compartment. It's totally gutting but not really anything I can do about it, and it has no effect on the bass in any way. Very hard to get it to photograph to be honest, but I've included an attempt to show it well. I'm a little torn about what to do with my basses lately and this has been my favourite for quite a while - I still really want to slim down my collection to 2 though, and my fretless is really starting to win the battle. I think it might actually be "the one". This sort of bass is £1600 new from the Bass Gallery so I'm looking for offers in the region of £950 as other than the clearcoat issue its mint Anybody wants to come around and try it out gets a free cuppa? Got a pair you can have that Beedster gave me with Kylie (a long while ago). More later...about to head home from work J Edit: tried to take some photos, but they either look blindingly white under the flash or cream without it - rest assured they are white though. Yours for whatever the post costs really
