NDBD - Boosey & Hawkes Excelsior for a complete novice.
Legion replied to Bigjas's topic in EUB and Double Bass
50/2 is the sort of format used by Strunal and they certainly have been playing their part in stringed instruments for a while: http://www.strunal.cz/Products/Products/Double-basses/ Might be some historical denomination of products out of an earlier Eastern European facility? -
Always been a pleasure to deal with Howard - best wishes for a speedy recovery

Also, if the person is accessing the site on a mobile platform its not particularly obvious they have a message waiting in their PM box. So they might be coming back multiple times a day but be unaware of the PM
I've had a six pack, a briefcase, a flightcase and currently have a cub (and still have the six pack) and I would add one word of warning if you do end up going for the Phil Jones; both the flightcase and the cub are very noisy (this comes through the DI too) it is apparently something to do with the power supply when running on 240v (which does make it sound like a design flaw to me! ) I don't know if all the newer/smaller amps are the same but it's certainly worth trying one before you buy!
I've had similar experiences which is a real pity as the obvious intended use of these smaller combos is in quieter locations - which is exactly where the annoying whistling/hiss is so noticible. I have to add that my PJB BG 300 does NOT do the noise thing. I think its a different amp design. Beedster came up against this exact issue and never managed to resolve it, until he bought a BG300. Maybe I got lucky though...

ET280's go for a lot less, but I've not seen a 288 to offer any advice sorry

Just completed a trade with Ron for a very nice bass, totally trustworthy to deal with and excellent communications throughout. Absolute pleasure to deal with.

Mark just bought a bass from me - met up at a convenient place and the whole deal was nice and easy. Trustworthy Basschatter, thanks.

I have a BC'er that's very interested and had asked for soundclips so I recorded 3 mins of noodling about to give him an idea. I figure it might be of interest to others checking it out as well: https://soundcloud.com/sakura-1-1/test/s-gz978 That was all recorded as follows: bass --> PJB superflightcase --> DI out --> Focusrite sapphire --> Ableton Live. No tweaking or any manipulation.

I got this in trade recently with the intention of moving it on as I need cash a lot more than I need another bass. Lovely custom shop 60's style jazz bass in NOS which is pretty much aged but not reliced. Sounds awesome and plays great, slightly chunkier neck than I was expecting for a jazz (which I like) which I imagine is the vintage neck profile. First time I've played a stack knob variation as well and I really like it. To be honest if I wasn't trying to clear a debt with a deadline I'd keep this. All case candy present along with the certificate. In as-new condition which the photos hopefully show. Weight is about 9.5 lbs which seems pretty typical for jazzes of this type. £1600 posted to your door (in the UK)

Another plus for Chris - poor sod got quite lost driving out into the sticks to collect the BB2 but was totally unflustered. Pleasure to deal with all round.
