I'm still interested - but I can see the photos are still the ones from the previous ebay seller: http://www.ebay.ca/i...e-/290974357718 Any chance you could take a few more of your own and possibly confirm the serial number please. Thanks

Iain, I had both (for a little while) and also the Puma 1000 that I bought from you and my recently acquired Puma 900 as well. I didn't spend hours going back and forth to do comparisons though as I had pretty much already sold the BBT and the Puma 1000 as a package so was quite committed to changing to the Puma 900 with BB2. They do sound different to each other, but it was very much a slight variation in flavour to my ears. Same essential sort of tone really. I think the tone of the BBT was slightly preferable to my ears than the BB2, but it's impossible for me to tell how much of that was just because I was used to the BBT and the BB2 was a little bit different to that. Also the BBT was well run-in and the BB2 probably not. The slight size reduction and weight saving meant I was more than happy with the BB2 in the end and I still have no regrets there. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that...

Sadowsky Metro to relic or not to relic?

The necks are a nitro finish, I'm not so sure the bodies are. No suggestions as to who could relic it for you sorry. -
(OMFG - it worked!!) Fender Custom Shop - worth the tag?
Yes, I haven't heard a bad word about them. Lucky man.
If you cross the border into Suffolk you are welcome to pop round and test out the Fender CS goods. -
I`ve owned many Fenders, played a whole heap more, and the best of the bunch was a Pino Palladino Sig Precision (one of the ones I`ve played but not owned, sadly).
And never shall (famous last words eh!) -
Absolutely stunning, should 100% be in the beautiful bass thread, if not already...
Thanks very much - it's in the Fretless Porn section already

Common options are: Wide strap Suede backed strap for better grip Lighter tuners - hipshots etc Uncommon options: Extend the length of the strap button on the upper horn (particularly if its short like an SG or something) Adding weights to the bridge end of a bass (hidden in control cavity or under ashtrays etc) Personally I've always found lighter tuners to make a noticeable difference (on fender style basses)

Legion replied to franzbassist's topic in Bass Guitars

Oh, and here's my normal rig...

I seem to have acquired a second rig - the MB-2 sounds so good with the Super Flightcase that I think I'll have to buy it now :/
I may drop him a speculative PM... (Edit: not interested in selling sadly)
I couldn't get him to sell it back to me, or trade it for the black one. It seems the colour IS important -
I've learnt (using the word very loosely) on an unlined fretless. It's only recently that I tried a lined fretless and I found it horrible to play, kept putting my fingers on the dots when I needed to put them on the lines, but i couldn't see the lines unless I crouch round the bass to look at the fingerboard. I think it does make intonation more accurate above the 12th fret, but only on the proviso that you stare at the fingerboard all the time. Personally I prefer to just glance at the dots occasionally. I also prefer the look of unlined, and some luthiers feel that a fingerboards rigidity is reduced by sawing fretlines all along its length with a small impact on tonality.
A Rob Allen MB2 is one of my dreams and that is a particularly wet dream.
I've just been looking through the case candy. Turns out the bass was made in 2002. Crazy. It looks mint. I even read the manual, which was actually useful as it pointed out to only change the strings one at a time to maintain the tension on the piezo bridge saddle and stop it from moving. Not that I ever intend to change them...

Welcome Ed ...and thanks for all the reviews (always good for doing internet research)

Peter Griffin style giggle... This just arrived today. Considering I hadn't even got an email confirming the money had cleared, imagine my surprise when a knock on the door was accompanied by a bass sized box I just sent back a Mouse 30, which although it was amazing, it was too small for me and I seem to be way more accustomed to unlined fretless than I realised. That is now a bargain waiting for someone else - check out http://www.knightonm...s/prod_908.html great guys to deal with. I'm loving the MB2, sounds amazing, punchy if you want it but mellow and blooming played at the neck. Weight is a slender 5lb 13oz and balanced as well.
can i ask why did you stay with the 900 and not the 1000?
Primarily I wanted the Aux in/headphones. The fact that it was smaller was a bonus. I didn't need the full 1000W anyway, not for the gigs I'm playing.
